Willie at the Hall. He played for about 3-1/2 hours straight, without a break, and without repeating songs. It was amazing.

Somehow forgot to mention Eric Johnson @ Hurricane Harry's in 1997.

One of my friends' bands played there so we went up early to hang out. Anyway, they were setting up and EJ asked us if "Sweet Eugene's" was within walking distance. I say, "Ummm, no. But I'll give you a lift if ya want." To my surprise he took me up on the offer and I gave him and his keyboard player a ride. Super nice guy.

I used to love North by Northgate when they had pushmonkey and vallejo.
Now I would say any Randy Rogers concert (they put on a great show) and Brandon Rhyder at The Hook
Sensei John Kreese

The best shows I witnessed were put on by either Ian Moore, Chris Duarte, or Storyville. You couldn't beat seeing these guys perform at the Dixie Theater or 3rd Floor Cantina.

one of the strangest shows i saw had to be Pimpadellic at 3rd Floor.

It involved a lot of on stage drug use, naked women...and some fellatio.

I, too was at the Gin Blossoms outdoor concert for a hundred. Still one of my funniest concert memories. People didn't yet know the names of the songs they were trying to request, so they'd yell out 'Play No. 6!'

Killer Bees at Third Floor always a blast.

Some of the Dah-Veed shows at Stafford were pretty intense.

Can't say I would rank anything the best show though...

No one mentioned They Might Be Giants or Arc Angels?

Sunset Heights, I remember seeing them- a real young kid on lead guitar wasn't it?

Most of these shows were mentioned:

Some memorable shows:

REK at the Stafford (he let the quiet show stick around for the rowdy show). My ride left me and a buddy there. It is a long hike back from Bryan to campus.

Killer Bees in Bryan, can't remember which venue.

and finally,

deadhorse at the Stafford.

Well, lets see. Probably Elton John at Jolly Rolly, as well as Johnny Rivers...Gary Pucket and the Union Gap (just kidding) the Cowsills (just kidding again)

Wilson Picket at the Bryan Civic auditorium, ZZ Top, BJ Thomas and Roy Head at school dances at SFA.
Three Dog Night did a good show in Bryan.

I would add Elvis, but I saw him in Memphis in 1956.

Best local Band ever...The Soul Shadows.

my favorites were tripping daisy, the nixons and sister7/little sister at Stafford Opera House

Also remember seeing a band called "retarded elf" that was punk ska at the 3rd floor cantina - ironic b/c I have a kid w/ Down's now.

CC Music factory and tone loc really rocked out the hall for me one night.

R.E.M. at G. Rollie White in 1989 for the GREEN Tour. I don't remember Michael Stipe ragging on Corps guys, but I do remember him preaching a lot. Including, making an appeal to save 5 old Live Oak Trees that were slated to be cut down during the MSC renovation/expansion, something like that.

Also, back in those days REM didn't necessarily play that many places in Texas and they were just starting to get really popular. So, many people came in from several hours away. I saw a HS friend or two who had driven in for the show. I just walked over from Dorm 11. I was being Green and didn't even know it.

wow. I know of a guy whose first name is David and whose last name is Coe... Not sure about this Davis fella.

My favorite concert had to be the "Back Porch Show" at the Chicken (free concert they used to do every week during the summer). It was on the back porch of the Chicken and the show was:

Doug Moreland
Jason Boland
Bleu Edmondson
Cory Morrow

all opening for

Pat Green (circa 2000)

the woodlands licks. plently of better venues in houston.

but luckily it got wiped out in Ike for a while. but then again maybe im just biased because its not a good venue for a rock show... all that country and adult contempo stuff its fine.

The Houston Chronicle published an article on how the Pavilion is rated in the top 3 best outdoor venues in the world not to long ago….it was based on ticket sales….have you ever had pit tickets to a show in the woodlands?

The woods is crappy only cuz its seasonal....
