one time this bimbo was talking so loud to her friend who was sitting RIGHT next to her (they were both in sorority tshirts) that she wasn't paying attention...the bus lurched, and she flew out of her seat and into a pole. i literally laughed out loud, i couldn't help it.

Don't be mean. I could explain it in a way that would make it seem slightly more legit. Of course it's superficial...you have to make a decision after knowing the girls for only a few days.

Rush is a very petty process. Many insecure girls do it. The best you can hope for are the type of girls that spend about a year really into their sorority and trying to get invited to every AMC/Ol 'Ags party they can (unless its a "lesser" sorority, then they will settle for frats) before realizing that their sorority is getting them nowhere. At this point, they will minimize their participation, apply for the PPA program, and start getting "involved" in such "important" ventures as "Student Government". They then graduate with a few good memories of their sorority, a boyfriend that is going to med school at UT Houston (hopefully he'll propose soon), and a decent job in Sector 7G at KPMG.

This cycle goes on until Mrs. Sorority and Dr. Husband have a daughter of their own. She'll be a legacy in mom's sorority and repeat roughly the same process. The family will go to **** if the daughter decides that UT for undergrad is a good idea.

I agree with LB09 about the rush process being incredibly superficial. During the parties you basically make pointless small talk for a few minutes with different groups of girls. However, the generalizations that people make about sorority girls are not justified. There are just as many "fake", loud, blabbing on cell phone types outside of sororities as there are in them. I met some wonderful people in mine and avoided the silly ones to whom I couldn't relate.

Listen, I only get 5 posts a day, so here goes:

Basically, recruitment is set up so that the girls going through get a chance to meet every house, and through a mutual process, they find the chapter they feel most comfortable with. Every house has different criteria for girls, which helps. Also, keep in mind that not only do we like the girls but it's also important that the girls like us. It's not perfect, but it's the best we can do in 4 days.

It's fake as all get up...sororities park their nicest cars at the house, different ones will have their hottest girls as the ones seen by the incoming girls.

I've heard stories (reliable source) of sororities rating their girls in the sorority by hotness and assigning jobs at rush based on such...

and besides...you're ****ing females, of course you're fake beotches...

i rushed when i came to college and ended up quitting half way through the week. and no, it wasn't because people didn't want me. in fact, i was having to make cuts myself. i just couldn't take the fakeness. i know it was more their attempt to be "nice" but it just annoyed me.

i really didn't mean for this to be a sorority bashing thread... i expected a few "rich girls ranking other rich girls" jokes, but none of this... although i really don't mind it, because after hearing some things about the recruitment and judging part of rush, i'm not exactly the biggest fan
