I can't make up my mind. I plan on applying myself to one of the two coming this fall. Anyone have any insight?

Neither. Be your own person. You can find a niche in ANYTHING down here. Don't limit yourself so much to one thing.

Corps was fun, first year sucks, had a lot of frat friends, they were cool guys, had a lot of fun. Depends on what you like, I had the best of both worlds, i was in the corps, but got to go to a lot of frat parties, just cuz i was cool with them.

Does the Corps have a huge disadvantage towards studying?

It actually helped me out, but that is all up to you.

Between those two, join a frat.

despite what you may hear, i think the corps has HELPED my studying, not hurt it. It seems like a lot of the time devoted to the Corps could have been spent studying, but without the discipline from the Corps you'll probably end up wasting that time. I LOVE the corps, and I'm a fish. Sometimes it sucks, sure, but it's worth it. (I know i'll get slammed for that on here...)

I recommend the Corps for most young people seeking lifelong friends and a leg-up for life after college.

Did that guy who was going to be in the band and was all gung ho "I know everything about the corps" end up quitting?

My personal option would be neither.

But between the two... my personal preference in college was to go to class, grab lunch and beer across the street then go to more class and study. At night I'd then go to a party or northgate, waking up late to start it all over again. The corps does not offer this experience. I was not in a fraternity either, yet had this experience with my own circle of friends I collected over the 4 years.

man, that was all I did the last two years of college, i think it's structured pretty well, your first two years, (when you usually can't drink anyway), you have to study at night, when you're a junior you can do whatever you want to, i lived at northgate my last two years in the Corps, and my grades dove from 3+ to high 2's, but I definitely had a lot of fun while in the corps

The Corps is the biggest frat on campus. They just get to dress up and play war.

Focus on your grades and the Corps. Make us proud to be Aggies.

If you want to bust your butt every day then join the Corps. If you want to go to parties join a frat. Depends on what you're looking for.

I joined the Corps for the life experience, but somewhere along the way I learned something about duty, honor, and country. In my 2nd year of law school I decided to go Air Force.

...and to stay on topic. I wouldn't recommend frogging in, you just wouldn't get the experience out of the Corps. If you're class of '10 and you want to be in the Corps than plan on claiming '11 for the next four years (except for your aggie ring, thats up to you).
