It depends. Do you want to do a bunch of pushups and sit ups while getting yelled at? Or Do you want to clean up after, follow around and be a ***** for a guy that pops his collar?

I personally didn't like the Corps, but that's mostly because I was a prior service Marine. I haven't found a fraternity that I like since i've been in college. If I had to choose one I would choose the Corps.

I think I can give you the best info on frogging in. I used to do all of the recruiting for SQ-18 the frog and tadpole outfit in the corps. Its not easy to frog in, or be a tadpole. Not easy in the sense that you are gonna miss out on a lot not being a fish for a full year. And some people are not gonna like you no matter what and give you hell about being a frog. If you are really serious, send me an IM and I can give your some good info about it. I would actually suggest not frogging in if at all possible.

I'm not going to frog in. I figured that other cadets would look down upon that.

why do frogs gets their own outfit? we never had a frog make it through their frog year and only had one tadpole make it.
i dont get the point of being in the corps if you dont go through the most important year.

Corps was fun, first year sucks, had a lot of frat friends, they were cool guys, had a lot of fun. Depends on what you like, I had the best of both worlds, i was in the corps, but got to go to a lot of frat parties, just cuz i was cool with them.

Saddest post of the year.

A lot of people had, especailly when the idea of an outfit soley dedicated to frogs and tadpoles was formed not too long ago. Some of the original memebers of the outfits got threats and bricks thrown through their windows. Hasn't been anything like that in recend years, but there are still some out there who just don't like frogs or tadpoles.

first off, we're military based. we actually teach discipline and honor and integrity. We dont just dress like soldiers, we actually make them if they so choose to become officers, and we dont have to pay for our friends. we sweat and bleed next to them and earn each other's friendship.

and that is far from all the differences

What is the percentage of people going into the military?

And this question is not about graduating senior numbers like the corps likes to use, this is a question of percentage of incoming freshmen into the corps class of 2005 that ended up in the military. Once you look that stat up your "military" based argument becomes completely null...

Oh and the frat tards instill just the same crap that the corps turds do...

So after your "military" connection what do you got? nothing, you are just in a frat.

Agreed. Most of those guys don't last past first semester anyway. You should definitely focus on chatting up the hottest chicks in your class who aren't wearing Greek letters.

Oh - for the original troll. What do you think? Of course you should join the Corps. You can probably name 4 or 5 famous Aggies who were in the Corps. I bet you'd have a much harder time naming 4 or 5 famous Aggies who weren't in The Corps (athletes excluded).

As long as Van Alstyne is running the show, I wouldn't steer anyone towards the Corps.

Since when do the frats teach military discipline and live by the "duty, honor, country" creed?

I'd say their creed is much closer to "drive a Tahoe, wear Izod and Croakies, and spend money on daddy's credit card".

While I don't debate the friends part, why in the world do you believe four years of army dress-up gives you a leg-up for life after college?

Millions of college students don't join the Corps. Literally millions. And the majority of them do just dandy after college.

How is that any different than pledging a fraternity? In fact the "leg-up" is perhaps bigger joining a national fraternity that has hundreds of chapters nationwide on numerous different campuses. so not only would an individual have the "Aggie Network" but also their fraternity network consisting of thousands of alumni all over.

my opinion, not that it matters, is the corps once was a great thing. The cadets got to do a lot of fun things and could even push the envelope. Then the hazing nazi's went to war. No more quadding. No more fish Sandwhiches. No more fun. Fish details get more and more prude with each passing comander. IT is just a shadown of what it once was.

As for the frat, the only two i would even think about are the Fijis or Sig Eps. The rest are not even close. Even then, joining a frat is still not the best option. Get involved with an organization. Cosga, student government, opas, fish camp, or the Reed Rowdies. All of which will let you meet some really interseting people and will can lead to some good friendships.

i know there are some that might feel this way, but it all depends on what you are looking for. there are great guys (and *****es to be honest) in every fraternity on campus. but the fraternity system at A&M is diverse enough that if someone decided to rush and give all the fraternities a chance, rather than letting false-stereotypes ruin their opinion of them, they would find at least 1 that is the right fit for them. all 22 or 23 of them have great things to offer someone, it all just depends on what you are wanting. SigEp and Fiji have great guys, but so do SAE, Sigma Chi, Delta Chi, PiKap, PhiDelt, Delt, and others.

I reccomend joining the service spend a few years in the army and any desire to join a group will be gone.

plus there is the benefit of having the military pay for college.

just look at all the frat daddies posting here and that should answer your question as to whether you want to join.

what were they arrested for again?
