This is my main reason for wanting it legalized. The off-set to property taxes and public funding will be off the charts.

Don't forget militarization of local PDs. If your town is big enough for a stoplight and a Dairy Queen, you damn well better have an MRAP, otherwise you ain't got **** but T&Ps.

Or the simple fact that republicans have always supported big business over big government. Not so anymore.

It's clear the market wants it or else you wouldn't see it being sold at CBD shops, gas stations, and liquor stores. If our legislators paid attention they would see that they are doing a 180 on big business by outlawing it.

Car culture?

Back from Branson. Only smoked (vaped) weed once, on a golf cart tour of Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail. The golf cart maxed out around 7 mph, and the scenery was *beautiful*. Didn't have much free time this trip. Activity after activity with not a whole lot of down time.

Missouri isn't remotely "left-leaning," but weed is one thing we did correctly. The citizens petitioned to put first medical, then recreation weed on ballots, and legalization won both times. The politicians wouldn't touch the issue and were bypassed.

Yep, this is a personal pet peeve of mine. Let's build some cool cities but let's make everything so spread out with minimal pedestrian infrastructure because we ****ing love cars and driving everywhere. So many towns and cities in the Bay Area got this right. Pedestrian infrastructure is excellent and it encourages outdoor activity.

I get it's hot as hell here during the summer, but we use that as an excuse to drive ****ing everywhere and build everything far apart because bigger is better here.

And don't get me started on muscle cars with cut off mufflers that have taken over north Austin. ****ing low IQ vehicles

It's good that the Bay Area has better pedestrian areas so the homeless don't have to go as far to poop on the sidewalk or leave needles around.

The homeless population is bad in SF, but not nearly as widely prevalent in the surrounding cities I'm referring to

D Day is creeping up on us. It appears our orange leader pushed it back a month. I am reading conflicting things about how it will affect states where it is legal. Seems pretty obvious that the law will kill the legal industry here in Texas, unless there is some change to the law. There are a lot of folks that are going to be affected by this.

I still hold out hope they can find the right number to make the orange guy happy and make this all go away. Feels like a real step backwards. Let's start throwing fools in the real pokey again for a couple ounces of weed, then we all get to pay for their 'rehabilitation'. Worked so well before.

I think this is overstated. I've seen Colorado's collections and it wasn't much to get excited about. Also, you're saying the state should tax something in order to buy down taxes the you approved locally. Why should we tax someone in Bandera to lower a rate adopted by voters in austin or dallas? Stop voting in favor of taxes.
