By his standards Malinin was pretty bad. But his score was still better than the Japanese guy's lifetime best.

I think our pothead snowboarders are more into doing tricks than going fast down a mountain. Although they are also losing the tricks competitions to acrobatic Asians.

This tournament is kinda dumb. The US needed to place last or better in its group to make the medal round (that's right, losing every game gets you a place in the quarterfinals). You could say that this game was for seeding, but the US and Canada have already destroyed all of the other teams ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th so that doesn't really matter either.

They should just have the US and Canada play a best of 7 series for gold and let the other countries have a tournament for bronze.

Some controversy in the figure skating world. The Olympics had all the skaters back on the ice for the team event medal ceremony yesterday but the podium was unpadded and made of a material that messed up some of the skate blades. None of the skaters were able to wear skate covers on the podium. Japan is not pleased. The US may join them in a formal complaint, although I don't know what that would accomplish.

The blades on these figure skates are individually honed and broken in. A lot of scrambling is being done to fix the damage before the individual competitions.
