I must say, I wish our other system schools were a little more attractive. None of them are a very close second choice, especially since Galveston is considered part of the main flagship. Really, there is only one public university (A&M) and a couple private universities (Rice and maybe SMU) in Texas that I would consider attending, then the other options would all be out of state. We ought to have more attractive options than that in such a large state. Texas State and Tech need to get off their lazy, party school asses and become schools where serious students might want to attend. We wouldn't have to send so many thousands of kids out of state if they would shape up.
Apparently you haven't been paying attention to the fact that A&M has become a diploma mill, DEI departments and initiatives have severely undermined the quality of the education, amd the multiple scandals in which it was discovered the University was willingly allowing Chinese espionage and facilitating Qatari nuclear weapons development.
A&M's reputation has taken a massive hit lately and it will eventually trickle through to the corporate world unless they fix it.
