I like to hide behind doors or next to light switches unexpectedly. I don't say anything until after they see me and just stand their casually. The look on their faces are pretty funny.

My dad used to do this to us when we were growing up. I'd go flip on a light and he would be standing there up against the wall, not saying a word. "DAD, you scared the crap out of me"

He would grin or laugh. It got to the point I'd flip on lights, guarded...

Never done that, but sometimes I wonder if my wife is awake (usually she's not) so that I can query if she has a show-watching preference before I choose something that I know she won't like, e.g. documentary, cooking, pbs, etc.

So, I whisper her name. But, apparently my whisper of her name wakes her up because to her it sounds creepy, like a deranged serial killer. So, sometimes I do it just for the laughs (my laughs).

We have a walk in shower with seamless glass. I wait until my wife is washing her hair with her eyes closed and I will sneak up right next to the glass and press my face against it and have a big creepy smile on my face when she opens her eyes. Even after 12 years of living in this house she still is freaked out. I have done it probably more than 100 times.

It I did some of the things on this thread, my wife would have a heart attack or kill me!! She is the jumpiest person on the planet, and to make matters worse, when she gets startled she emits a shriek or scream. And that noise pisses me off.

It has gotten to the point that if I come into the house and she is not around my entry area, as I walk through the house I say "I'm home, I'm home" over and over to prevent all that when I do locate her.

Placed a "Screamin Meanie" wakeup alarm in my wife's nightstand one time set to go off at 1am. She fired up out of bed like a missile grabbing her cellphone pushing buttons trying to make the shrieking go away. Sometimes the simple pleasures in life is no more than laughing so hard you have to wipe the tears out of your eyes. I've retold that story many times and I believe my wife laughs harder than me now.

I leave fake spiders around for the wife to find. Good laugh when she finds one.

I know this woman. I'm married to her too. I used the scare the sht out of her when we were first married out of fun. Now I realize the agony it causes her and I value my life.

My wife is a big Reba McIntire fan. Almost every single time a Reba song comes on the radio or she's on tv I say something to the effect of "did you know Reba was in Tremors?" Or "this song is good, but it's not as good as Tremors." God forbid Tremors is actually on and then it's "do you want to watch Tremors? Before you say no you should know that Reba is in this movie."

I do this too...wife absolutely says it's one of my best personality traits.

I also have the undressed wife radar and can almost always perfectly time walking into the bedroom as she is in a state of semi-undress and do the "bow chicka bow wow"....to which she rolls here eyes and says "yeah, good luck with that".

Just last night I got home late from a training class, opened/closed the garage door, walked in the house, said her name out loud b/c the TV was on (no response), walked up stairs into the bedroom and she was standing with her back to the door half dressed...I just stood there and waited and when she turned around was all "JESUS...YOU SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME!!!".

No but my husband has been doing the TikTok thing where he lays down on the floor and then starts talking as I walk into the room. Turns out, it truly is as scary as it seems on the videos.
