Now it looks like a third world country. Not sure if renovations ever actually happened. I think it's been completely bulldozed now.

Sea Arama in Galveston.
Any time something tropical was supposed to move in was the best time to go. No lightning so stuff stays open, but also no tourists and people from San Antonio so shorter lines and tube chutes don't get clogged up so fastRagoo said:

It's over ran with land manatees. They seriously need to up their pricing to weed out the riff raff.

I checked the other day out of curiosity and it's like $50 a day now to get in, when it was around $10 when I was a kid. Of course we always got the season pass for Christmas which if you got it early enough was around $50.

America's largest water park still going strong for 45 years.
Free if you knew people who worked there, or at least was back in the 1990s.TXAG 05 said:Beckdiesel03 said:

If you're ever in Florida, Weeki Wachee Springs is still around and pretty fun. Last time I was there I went swimming in the springs and a bunch of manatees just swam up to hang out. It was a really cool experience. They also have a vintage Mold-A-Rama souvenir machine.

Spent many of summer's in that place. Believe it or not, there was another one just inside what is now Loop 250 across from what is now HEB ( I think ). Can't remember the name, was only there a few times when I was really really young. Anyone on here born after 1980 won't know what I'm talking about.AggieArchitect04 said:

Definitely forgot about this one. Went there on a 4-H trip in the early 80s!
Didn't they have critters also? Gosh, it's been 40 years.
wow, they should make a documentary about that!1988PA-Aggie said:
Action Park, Sussex County NJ. Also known as Traction Park.
Was a regular there in the 80's (before safety was invented).
Since summers are far shorter in the northeast, the place was frequently packed and people (us included) went nuts. And there was no way a bunch of 16 year old 'life guards' were going to watch and control teenage NJ animals. People getting carried out or bleeding was a regular sight. Several deaths every summer.
Good times.

How can you see that as mocking, to the point you add a little thumbs down emoticon? It's a funny comment given there IS a documentary about it, but not personally mocking you - I don't get that reaction at all.1988PA-Aggie said:Nice, feel good to mock a fellow Ag?62strat said:wow, they should make a documentary about that!1988PA-Aggie said:

You can't go through life that emotionally fragile.

Did I take it as mocking? Yes, I took it as a sarcastic response as if everyone should know this information, hence my initial reply. I did not see the post on the first page about Action Park. I added my post to this thread because the unlikelihood of some (based on geography), if any, posters having been to Action Park. I was merely stating some of my personal experiences as a teen who frequented that park, not just stating that Action Park exists and it had its issues. And there may be some who do not know about it, again, based on geography?62strat said:no there's no history.Complete Idiot said:How can you see that as mocking, to the point you add a little thumbs down emoticon?
