The dog had a service animal vest. It was clearly not a service animal as it would not stay still, jumped on the waitstaff, and barked more than once.

Did it has a service animal vest, or just a vest? Dogs can wear vests you know.

And I didn't know a service animal had a bark limitation of just 1.

Correct. Dogs can wear vests. You can also order bogus "service dog" vests online and pretend to have a service dog in an attempt to legitimize taking a dog everywhere. It's pathetic, and akin to fabricating a handicap placard to park in accessible parking spaces.

Any barking inside a restaurant is inappropriate IMO. Likewise, jumping on waitstaff, eating dropped food under the table, and generally being disruptive is inappropriate and disrespectful to other patrons who left their pets at home. Most service dogs don't behave this way.

Above all, having language on the vest that says, "DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT" is downright asinine and illustrates the fact that this idiot thinks we should all kowtow to his made up rules so that he can take his animal anywhere he wants.

This guy is an *******.

It is mind boggling to me how this keeps getting reframed as somehow the fault of anyone other than the person who is engaging in the behavior.

But, I suppose that should explain a lot.
It's actually the fault of the person who is whining about it in the first place.
I am sure you would feel this way the next time someone brings a dog into a movie theatre and sits next to you while you're trying to watch whatever new Star Wars film has come out.

There is no way it will try to eat your popcorn or disturb your viewing experience in any way, right? Every dog and every person will be perfectly well behaved.

I would ask them to move or alert the theater manager. I would not whine about it on the Internet.
Also, I don't like popcorn.
But I do love a rowdy crowd at the movies.

So basically, your condescending, speculatory post is one big airball.
How is asking them to move any different than "whining"?

Isn't the very act of asking them to move admitting that they are disturbing your preconceived notion of what your experience should be like in a public setting?
Whining = coming online to gripe about a problem
Asking them to move = directly speaking to the other human in a rational manner to explain to them why, unless it's a service dog, it shouldn't be in the theater.

Also, I really love dogs, so I don't think I'd even care if a dog was in the theater to be honest.

Well, we all know you have never come to the internet to whine about anything under this or any previous username, so we will all take note of that fact.

And again, acting like because something may not bother YOU in some specific instance or situation doesn't mean that it somehow becomes generally accepted public behavior.

Does this same mindset apply to someone smoking a cigarette if they exhale the smoke directly in your face? Sure, it might not bother some people, but I think we can all agree that generally as a society that is not acceptable behavior in public.

But keep goaltending for weirdos who want to take their dogs everywhere with them. It's a weird hill to die on but it's yours to have if you want it.

Let's just meet somewhere in a parking lot so you can punch me in the face and work out all this bizarre aggression you've got built up towards me.

Imagine being so concerned about what people you don't even know are doing.
Imagine being so self absorbed that you don't realize what an imposition you're being on other people.

I don't see how someone bringing their dog with them creates an imposition for me, someone who doesn't need to speak to them or interact with them. Please explain.

ETA: I can say with 110% certainty that there is absolutely no way that you apply this same attitude of "If it doesn't bother me, why should I care?" to other facets of life.

Okay

How often do you get upset at strangers having opinions online?

Only when they try to insist that an entire gender's value exists to serve them. Otherwise, very rarely.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I love dogs, but I don't want to see them in grocery stores, restaurants, etc. It's a pet, not your ****ing child.
THIS, 100% this. And people get all upset and offended when the staff tells them they can't bring their dog into the restaurant.

An additional layer here is that it doesn't stop with just dogs.

I was in Lowes in Tomball a few months back and wondered why there were a bunch of people running out of the paint aisle. When I turned in for some white trim paint I ran into an old, portly man carrying his pet skunk on his shoulder. Yes, a mf'n skunk.

Being deathly afraid of skunks, I froze up and took me a few seconds to gather myself and gtfo.

Turns out there is a pretty significant pet skunk market including breeders, de-scenters and such. (Unbelievable.)

If you are a pet skunk owner in Tomball, please do us all a favor and leave in your trailer.

They are intelligent animals and once descented can be trained to use a litter box and be a regular pet.

Are you sure it wasn't just a cat who had accidentally walked under a spilling can of white paint?
