Norman Lear was one of the giants. He ruled sitcoms for years and didn't shy from hot wired topics while injecting humor. He flew nearly 50 bombing runs into Nazi Germany so no doubt he had a steel resolve in getting past the tv censors. A full life. RIP

The really sad thing is that he was apparently being treated with ketamine infusions for mood symptoms (the last documented infusion was over a week before his death and could not have produced the toxicology results seen).

I'm agnostic on the medical use of ketamine: it's not my field and I don't know the literature to opine as to whether it is ever a good idea or not.

Regardless, giving a notorious party drug to a guy with a very well documented history of polysubstance abuse seems like a really bad idea. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a future malpractice case.

I know someone that took ketamine infusions for CRPS after having part of a surgical device left in their body and ending up with constant leg pain.

Don't think the ketamine provided the desired relief.

Maybe I'm stretching the definition of celebrity but Jim Ladd was "the Last DJ" that Tom Petty wrote the song about.

I was streaming KLOS this evening on the way home from my guitar lesson. Lots of tributes to Jim Ladd were being shared by callers.

He was a legend.

He's been missing off SXM's "Deep Tracks" for a few weeks now so I figured he'd been pretty sick for a while.

Not on anyone's list for sure. Not even a celebrity, except for in the metallica world. Even then, not as famous as ray burton.

I love in the Some Kind of Monster documentary when he tells Lars they should delete the new track they just played for him. Dude gave zero ****s.

Yes Dick Van Dyke is going to die in the next few years. He's 98 years old. Selecting him for 2024 doesn't make you Nostradamus if the worst happens. Jimmy Carter is already in hospice. He would be the absolute lamest pick for 2024 IMO.

So if DVD dies at 98 you get 2 points. Conservative pick but almost guaranteed pts. However, I will have Antonio Brown on my 2024 list. Riskier pick but 65 pts if he checks out.

I watched a YouTube interviews with George Lynch of Dokken yesterday.

He said he will be 70 soon.

Made me feel old.

I always wanted to be a George Lynch fan. I've heard that Randy Rhoads was. When I hear G.L. do any kind of lead work though, it's like he's just sh**ing out notes rapid fire. He just doesn't do anything for me.

I have a black Tele with G.L. Screamin' Demon pickups (two humbuckers) though, and they're outstanding.
