People if you're ever feeling at the end, call the ones you love. Talk to them. Know you're loved and if you're gone it'll leave a giant hole in a lot of hearts. I know I'm a bit of an a**hole on TexAgs at times, but if anyone ever just wants to talk or BS and discuss life, I'm happy to do so.
If you've had these feelings in the past and made it through, still seek help if you haven't. And find you a support system you trust. I talked a friend through a "dark place" a few years ago. She was so thankful the next day. Then she shot herself dead less than a year later. I thought she was getting help, but it turns out she never did.

Heartbreaking news, he was always one of the ones who could be the life of the party. Very outgoing and cordial. Sad to know that he thought a permanent solution to a temporary problem was the only way. He had the drive to achieve his goals and dreams. I hope you are at peace Chris.

Chris was a rare breed in that he found a way to connect with SO MANY people... this thread is proof of that!

I hadn't talked to him in years, but he was pivotal in the path my life took while at A&M. We were in some AgEco undergrad classes together, and in a conversation on a bus across campus, between classes, he's the one that made me aware of the Agribusiness program. Within a week I'd changed majors, which was a much better path for me, and ultimately paved the way for me to get my masters in marketing.

When I found out the news today, I immediately flashed back to that conversation - I can see it vividly.

What a blessing he was to many, and I will be praying for his family and all that loved him. God be near.

Old GBer here who just heard (and then had to figure out how to log on… hah). Can't believe this news. Have such great memories back in CS around 05-06ish with the TA gang. Got to catch up with him in NY and watch us BTHO Ole Miss at the NY A&M Club get together in 2013. Have a great pic of him giving a Gig'Em from that day. Think I saw him one more time in Texas after that, but kids do a number on your memory. Thinking of his family and everyone he touched.

Whoa. My next to last post on TA was from that weekend in 2013 when I said:

"Had a great time hanging out with Scimitar last night at the NY A&M Club game watching party. He has the hook-up and got us the best table in the whole place. Thanks, Sci!"

Stunned.

We had become twitter friends and I never made the connection he was also a TA friend until this thread.

He had all the accomplishments to be an ass, but he was one of the most kind folks I knew.

Had to go find my login information after this info was shared. Chris was a good guy and always a good mentor. He was truly an inspiration to his fellow brown Ag, and I'm in shock with this news.

Cannot fathom what he was going through to do this.

When I met him, I was surprised to learn that he was an infantryman in the Marines and graduated ag economics. I was a tank soldier in the Army and working on my ag business degree. Instant relatability.

Very sad to hear.

I've known Chris since the late 90's while we were in school.

Not sure how many knew, but he was on the rodeo team as well. The first bareback horse he got on at a rodeo, he fell off and broke his arm. Not sure that he ever got on another bareback horse after that.

GIG 'EM Chris!

Dammit. Chris was a good dude. I had dinner with him and his ex in Manhattan about 10-11 years ago. I always enjoyed his banter on here.

RIP Chris.

This thread is incredible and a testament to the type of person he was. The number of TexAgs legends coming back to chime in about his impact is incredible. I never even met him irl and this thread has been on my mind since I saw it yesterday.

I used to really enjoy his posts back in the day, and at some level some of our exchanges helped me decide to go back to school for an MBA. I was secretly very proud when he tweeted something that I put in a post on B&I and always thought I should reach out to him if I ever found myself in Memphis.

I just had the best Chris memory and had to come share it here:

In the 2006-07 years when dating apps were getting popular, I would occasionally go on dates with guys in Dallas that I matched with. Chris thought this was wildly dangerous and insisted that I tell him who I was going with and where I would be "in case he's an axe murderer" (this is sensible and I agreed).

One day I met a guy for lunch at a Corner Bakery in Addison and I looked over to see Chris sitting in the corner waving at me. I proceeded to have my date with him across the room, laughing delightedly at his own joke. He brought this up for years after that.

He and another poster from here insisted on walking me over to meet my now husband when I sold him a ticket to a football game. It wasn't a date and we were going to be in a stadium with 80k other people. I'm not sure how they thought I was gonna get murdered.

I was too busy today to reboot the old emgee, but I had to come back after many years, for Chris. My funny story….I knew him from TA circa 2004-2005? Then we met in person at a local poster, lunch bunch. (At a restaurant that always changed names.) Turns out we already knew each other. We had no idea that he was the neighbor I spoke to often, that he was a groomsman in a wedding we were in. Hilarity ensued. The lunches and dinners at locally owned restaurants and Mi Cocina brunches over the years. I moved to Qatar, he moved to NYC…we stayed in touch. I moved to the eastern shore of MD, he showed me the ropes of my NYC visit. He moved to TN, I shared my favorites. His personality was big. His heart was bigger. Always up for a good story or an argument. He called me "his future ex-wife" for years. (Even when I was married to a Dean.) Or Mollywog…when it was just us catching up. I'm gut punched. There are many people that are much closer with him, but he always stayed in touch. We rarely saw eye-to-eye on many things the GB or media would present…but he was always a friend. A great friend. He gave the best hugs, drank the best beer and always had his friends back. I'm so sad.

I feel the same way. I'm really affected by the news and reading the personal stories about him. I appreciate reading them all and love seeing pics of him with some of y'all.

This is one of my all time favorite Marty Robbins songs and I think now I'll always think of Scimitar when I listen to it. I never met him but have loved reading all the stories. Seems like an amazing man.
