I will miss the liver and onions.

When I first started in the Navy Reserves in San Antonio, they had a contract with Luby's to feed us lunch. After muster, it was a mad dash to the car to get to the front of the line. That lasted for about a year, then they switched to crappy catering. Definitely not as good.

Exactly my experience. Lots of memories at Lubys. I ate a many meals there and now I take my kid there. I'm sad to see it go. We also had countless thanksgiving and Easter meals there.

Brand new Lubys, probably less than 2 yrs old, already closed. Permanently it appears

When this news came out a few months ago, the radio program I listen to here in San Antonio was taking calls about it. There seemed to be a sentiment that at some point they decided to go more "fancy" with the menu items and raised the price and that's when a lot of the people calling in stopped going.

It did get really expensive.

But, like many of you, I have very old memories of that place that make me nostalgic. Neat to think about people being taken there by their grandparents/parents and now they're taking their kids (maybe grandkids? Are they old enough for that many generations?). Sad to see it go.

Two LuAnn platters usually run $21-23 and there is PLENTY to eat.

In the late 1970s, some of us grad students in the Math Department would go to Luby's nearly every Sunday night for supper.

Occasionally we would go elsewhere like the Chicken Oil Company instead.

They should change Sunday School hour to 0900 to 1000; coffee from 1000 to 1025; main service 1030-1115. Do they not teach Baptist pastors this secret to success anymore? Sunday night they can go longer if they wish,
