I got to see one in the early 80's that I probably shouldn't have. It had to make an emergency landing and my Grandpa snuck me out to see it. I was immediately pulled into a hanger and placed under armed guard. The Air Force flew in a crew on a C-130, complete with their own guards, to repair and get it turned around. I didn't get to see it depart since it was late on a school night!B-1 83 said:Dad donated his WW2 flying jacket and "chit patch" there for display.ABATTBQ11 said:
Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. We were in Columbus for a wedding and decided to make a trip there.
First SR71 I saw was at the Barksdale air show when I was a kid and dad was stationed there (1973/74?). It was heavily guarded and roped off for a distance.
