Somebody flagged my pictures of the blackbird. I took them, so no copyright issue and it was the only flagged photos in a big group of pictures. They weren't even consecutive, so I doubt it was accidental.

He said the B-52 was far and away his favorite. Didn't have much to say about the others other than always being cold at altitude in the B-24 especially flying gas over the hump.

Flyover for the Super Bowl is supposed to be a B-52, B-1, and B-2.

Since it's the Air Force, they will be perfect on TOT.

Apparently my wife's family knows the guy who coordinated the flyover really well. LTC who grew up in their church. Met him once many years ago when he was a major. Flew F-15's and had been recently assigned an instructor slot IIRC. Seemed like a prey cool guy and had some great stories. He got a simulated kill on an F-22 because a controller spawned him right on its ass after he'd been "killed" several times.


ETA It's also kind of hilarious top see how dirty the exhaust from that B-52 is compared to the others. Makes me think of a POS minivan pissing oil behind it driving next to a Ferrari.

Way to go, Air Force. TOT was perfect.

TF33 / JT3D, that's what money sounds like when you're on a depot level maintenance program for something that uses those! TF39s (old C5 engines) made cool noises too but they're extinct.

I was in Rudder Theatre when a couple of pilots came in to talk to the the Air Force members of the Corps of Cadets in about 1999. When a bomber pilot was taking questions, one of my upperclassmen stepped up and asked a question about pilots' ability to pick their planes, and he ended it with something about "being stuck being a bomber pilot."

The pilot said he didn't look at it that way, but it let all the air out of the room. I still cringe to think about it.
