Keystone reminds me of Hot Tub Time Machine where nothing has been updated in 30 years.

Yay. That's where we are going in March. Friend of my wife said it's good for kids to learn.

Keystone is a great place for newbies to learn. I'm not sure why knoxtom doesn't like it, but I ski Keystone every year and it's a great resort for both ends of the spectrum - my wife learned to ski there a few years ago. You'll love it.

I dont hate keystone, i ski there 4 or 5 days a year, but it is a terrible place to learn.

It says right on the map that only 14% of the mountain is green. Take out schoolmarm and that drops down to 2 runs, both of which are offshoots of schoolmarm.

So if your idea of a good beginner mountain is lapping one run for days unending, most of that run being confusing catwalk, then have at it. Or you could drive 10 miles to breck or 40 to beaver creek for tons of beginner stuff.

Oh, you might as well stay at breck for dinner too since you will be going there every night anyway.

Fwiw, keystone's summertime bike program kicks a$$ and breck's sucks

Just got back from a weekend in Aspen/Snowmass and gotta say it seems tough to beat when you factor in the full experience with dining/nightlife. Still want to ski Park City and Jackson Hole though.

What is catwalk, in ski terms?

Areas between runs or areas that are effectively flat (have a very slight slope to them). You may have to push yourself through parts depending on the catwalk.

For you powderhounds, northern Utah is in the middle of a big snowstorm. A foot at my house and about 2 feet or so at Snowbird and Alta is expected by the time it finishes. More snow later this week.

Looks like good snow falling on the cams at Crested Butte too. Too bad we won't be there until early March. Hope it keeps going all month...

Yesterday it was 72 degrees in Colorado Springs and I was doing laps on the bicycle on the new Chutes DH trail

Today it is around 28, snow and ice falling. Wife says I may not be able to make it up the hill to the house from all the ice. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be around 18.

Man, I'm jealous. I just bought new step-on bindings and boots for my snowboard yesterday. I have to wait until Sunday before I'll have time to hit the mountain, and then it'll only be Flagstaff.
