Utah actually gets good snow because the systems dump there first as they move easterly.
Got into a lot of heavy powder at PC. But PC sucks on a board with heavy powder because it has lots of flat spots on and off the lifts. It was built before boarding was a thing and flat spots aren't so bad when you have poles.
Snow in northern Utah is affected by the Great Salt Lake. We get fluffy light snow in abundance with a good cold front and the Lake effect despite having a desert climate. I live in the Avenues area of Salt Lake and do plenty of shoveling from Dec-March. No complaints, however. It gives me a nice green lawn in the summer with all that snow locked up in our mountains.
