When did this become a thing?

I get we are at the time of year people have some time off work ect ect but I have seen more and more people wearing pajamas in public.

Saw a family last night at a restaurants and whole family was wearing pajamas
A grown ass man wearing a effin onesie ? Really

Saw kids getting dropped off at school this morning in pajamas... so those are the kids that end up being grown men wearing pajamas in public in a few years.

Dropped by the grocery store this morning and again saw men and women wearing pajamas??

You want to wear some sweat pants .. alright
But people wearing button up pajamas and slippers in the grocery store? Really

I see it CONSTANTLY here in the NW.
Restaurants, airport, grocery store.
It's disgusting. Mostly 20 somethings and teens. They don't even drag a comb through their hair.

Why would you take family Christmas pictures in pajamas
Why would you choose to wear said pajamas in public afterwards

My daughter's daycare has a pajama Christmas party, and as others have said, most elementary schools do to.

Elementary schools may have one.. it's basically a dress up day.

Still doesn't explain the adults

we do matching pajamas for Christmas. But we DO NOT wear them outside of the house.

My kid has pajama day at school but anyone beyond elementary school age should never be wearing pajamas outside the home (unless it's in the immediate curtilage of your home on Christmas morning so a kid can try out a new "outdoor" toy like a bike).

Why is this a thing in airports?

Airport attire whips me to death. You see people flying from Dallas to San Antonio, in PJs, with headphones, ipad, snack pack, neck pillow etc....You can't just dress like a normal person and sit in your seat for 35 minutes without needing all that crap?

I do it Christmas morning as I want to sleep in my own bed and then travel out to family for Christmas breakfast in my PJs.

1. Because they're lazy.
2. Because they're trying to have fun.

Which answer depends on their race.

About once per month I am lucky enough to pick kids up from school ... unreal the amount of moms wearing pjs to pick up kids. August and 105 degrees...pjs! December and 35 degrees...pjs with a jacket!

Typically 30-50 lbs overweight. Rarely do I see men in pjs in public. Make your own decision from that anecdote!

Not reading this whole damn thread (yes all one page of it (right now anyway)) but just wanted to point out it was Christmas pajama day at my kids school today. Of course it's not appropriate for a adults, but it's fun for the kids. I wouldn't send him like that normally but if it's an organized thing and everybody is expected to I think it's just good holiday fun.

Merry Christmas, ya grinch!

If you see an adult in a onesie, it's likely for a reason. There's a whole market for well-made adult onesies. Usually the same market that buys an ugly Christmas sweater, etc.

Kids probably had pajama day at school at this time of year.

As far as pajama pants in public, I don't understand that. Women, change into leggings. Men, change into sweatpants. There's a whole athleisure category now of pretty damn comfy clothes.

Last week in IAH I saw a black guy in a yellow bird outfit. Had bird feet and headgear as well. I couldn't tell if he was mentally slow or maybe he just lost a bet. Was very strange.
