Let's say you had free reign. No cost associated with any particular breed and no dogs ever are ever put down. Which breed would you choose? Why?

Oh, you can only choose one breed for the rest of your awful life until some funeral director rips off your loved one for a casket you don't need. Please post pics of that gorgeous animal for the rest of us to enjoy. Here we go!

DISCLAIMER: I love all dogs, especially mutts. They can (and so many times do) make dogs for a great percentage of price, and audience. But that wasn't what I asked. Start your own mutt thread, preferably with pics.

I want to know what breed you love and/or prefer, and why! And, if some of those derpy mutts make it in, who cares?

We studied breed temperament, and settled on collies, of all things. We breed, train, show, and compete with them.

I also like Corgies, Shelties, and Malinois.

German short hair if you shoot quail.

Yellow lab if you shoot doves.

Boxers - Their personalities are incredible.

Before I got my pup, I was looking at a Bull Terrier (wouldn't have been a smart choice on my end based on their personality) and a Husky

I've loved everything about my labs. I doubt I'll ever get any other breed.

Labs. Easy choice.

Chocolate Lab.

We had to suddenly put down my beautiful lab a few years ago, and it'll always hurt. She was goofy, fun, sweet, playful, and excellent around my little kids. We'll get another one some day.

Why? Similar personalities. Don't like to be told what to do. Easy going. Independent. Lazy.

You don't rule a basset hound. You coexist with a basset hound.

My bassets have always been incredibly caring. They have an innate sense of when I'm hurting. Also, very protective of their women persons (males, anyways).

We ride around in my truck and give people smiles. Every single time we get in the truck. People see my basset and smile.

We have one. Great dog.

Have a Cowboy Corgi, half corgi half blue healer. Great dog but not used to smaller dogs yet.
Have had flat backs, tri color collie, and border collie. Loved my border and flat..

Family have had blue spot tick( crazy ass dog)
Dalmatians, labs and Goldie's.

Love my Rottweiler and don't have to worry about break ins to my home.

Smart and pack a punch. Also intelligent enough to learn advanced commands and intuitively pick up on things.





Puppy now but her dad was 140 lbs and her mom was 105.

They are too vicious!

Lab/German Shepherd mix. Get the best of both worlds, except for all the hair.

Mine's so docile, she'll let my mother's chihuahua bite her in the face and she just turns and walks away.

We currently have two mutts, one 90lb one 40lb.

I really want a Siberian Husky for my next puppy. I love their look, energy, and how vocal they are.

Likely buying from Central Texas Husky a small home breeder.

Generally you want to stick to the Herding, Sporting, or Hound groups.

Any kind of retriever, collie, spaniel, pointer, setter, or scent hound would be a great dog.

Sight hounds are neat, too. I like the Saluki. They are beautiful in person.

Not a fan of the terriers or toy group.

Working dogs are ok. The big, gentle ones are great. Bernese Mountain Dog, Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, St. Bernard, Leonberger, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees.

Nothing to write home about in the non-working group. Maybe an English Bulldog if that's your thing.

Had three of them at one time. The oldest was the best dog I've ever had. Second one's elevator didn't go all the way to the top but she was lovable. Third one was an ass. They're all gone now but they made life interesting.

Gray Mini-Schnauzer. Mine was quiet, smart, affectionate, and loved to hunt squirrels. No shedding. Got positive comments everywhere she went and hung out briefly with Miss Reveille.
