How long do you want to ignore this user?
Working with my pain management doc, today she suggested trying the THC Free Cannabis Oil. I am currently on hydrocodone, hydromorphon, gabapentin and amitriptlyne on a daily basis, but we need to add something or up the meds more, so the CDB Oil is one option.

Has anyone here tried it, with any luck? if so, was is as an edible, liquid or what? Where did you buy it? Thanks.....

If you're on that many pain meds, I doubt CBD will help.

But if you wanna try, you can buy it in liquid form online. It comes in a little dropper and you do like 10 drops.

Or if your company doesn't drug test, just start smoking pot or get edibles.

A few acquaintances of mine use a THC version called Mary's and swear by it's effectiveness. Even have a former surgeon friend with a debilitating terminal disease that says it's helping manage his pain. I've never tried it with or without THC, but I do believe it's helping these folks, even if it's a placebo effect (may or may not be).

From what the CBD dealers say, it cures as much stuff as chiropractic. Really balances the humors, and something about toxins.

I do THC free CBD oil and it doesn't provide me pain relief. It does chill me out though.

I thankfully do not have any advice, but I wish you all the best with your struggles. I can't imagine being in constant pain and having to deal with the side effects of the pain management tools you are using.

A fentanyl patch is definitely a possibility! No blown off leg, but after a surgery, my body became "septic" or sepsis shock, whatever it is. Dr. amputated half my foot but saved the heel. Infectious disease specialist and hospitalist both said I was within a couple of days of death, but the podiatrist saved my life by doing what he did, when he did it.

I rolled into his office in a wheel chair for a follow up foot appt. and thought I had the flu. The wife said I ate a total of three meals in two weeks. He recognized the problem and within an hour, I was in emergency surgery to debride or cleanup and remove the infected bones in my foot.

While in the hospital for 50ish days battling that, cancer was found in my pancreas. since Sept 5, I have had four foot surgeries, had half my pancreas, all of my spleen and a **** ton of lymph nodes removed. Start chemo in Feb.

Add in a severe case of Neuroplathy and life's a beetch right now. No foot blown off, but it sure as hell feels like it!

Original surgery was on broken left foot. My podiatrist is an Ag, Class of '80 (I believe) and a great Dr. His practice is out of Yoakum, but he has offices at Cuero hospital and Detar here in Victoria. He was in town last week and stopped in to check up on me.

When he saw my foot, it was in Cuero. He told me in a very serious tone, I had two choices. I could stay in Cuero and would be in surgery within an hour or they would transfer me back to Victoria and I would have surgery soon. The difference being, in Cuero, he would do the surgery and he would work and save as much of my foot as possible. In Victoria, they would probably amputate the entire foot. I chose Cuero and now I still have a heel I can walk on.....

I Gotta be upbeat, not a damn thing I can do about it now. Wife and I celebrated 25 GLORIOUS YEARS ( she makes me say that!) on the 18th. . We finally went out to celebrate tonight. We had a two week cruise scheduled for Sunday after Thanksgiving, but I was in the hospital for the pancreatic surgery, so we had to delay it.

We sail on Jan 13-27th, so I'm looking forward to that. Chemo starts after I get home. No big deal, I got this!

I took Lyrica after a surgery to remove a benign tumor from my nerve root at my L4/ L5 spine, fusion of the vertibrae. My right shin felt like it was on fire/ burning and my knee cap felt like it was being pried from my leg. Nothing the nurses were doing helped. The surgeon's PA showed up and prescribe the lyrica and within minutes the pain was gone.

I think I took it briefly after a cancer surgery to remove my right kidney, tumor, part of my liver and a few other tissues. It worked wonders.

I now take Gabapentin for RLS, prescribed by my pulmonogist/ CPAP dr to hep me sleep better. I don't know that it's helpful for pain in my case, but I know a couple people that tried Lyrica and it did nothing for them, Gabapentin did work for them though. If you haven't tried Lyrica, you might ask about giving it a try. It seems people have differing responses to each.

You've been through hell and back for sure. Good luck in your recovery and as you start chemo. A positive outlook works wonders when it comes to recovery. My wife thinks that it part of why I did so well with my kidney cancer. I knew I'd be fine, it was her job to take care of everything else.

Enjoy your anniversary trip!!

Damn. And I'm acting like a huge baby over a knee sprain. You've inspired me to suck it up. Sending prayers up for you!

As for CBD, I'm currently in Utah and almost everywhere we've gone has had the option to add the oil to your drink. The orthopedist I saw after I sprained my knee skiing recommended I try it, and I feel like it's made a difference in my pain level. Of course it could be placebo effect or a lot of other factors, but I'm feeling much better. If it won't interact badly with anything you're already taking, then I say give it a shot.

I tried Lyrica early on and maxed out on it, without much luck, so we switched to Gabapentin. It seems to help some. I do admit, I'm a big wiener when it comes to pain!

Thanks for the prayers and good vibes, it does mean a lot! I know CBD at this point is probably a waste, but what the hell, at this point, I'm willing to give it a shot.

Pain mgmt folks and I are probably going to try a fentanyl patch after my cruise, just in case it causes. a weird reaction. last thing I want is to be airlifted off the Cruise ship or even worse, end up in a hospital in Bumfk, MX.

I made sure to have my shjt together, will, medical directives, POA, prior to the big surgery, just in case I crapped out there, so that's a relief.

Either way, good or bad, I've got this! Have a Happy New year and BTHONCSt!

I use CBD Oil to help me sleep and it works for me. I don't know what it would do for pain, but if you're in that much pain, I doubt it would be stronger than what you're currently on - it might be able to replace some of stuff you're on which would be a good thing.

Honestly you should make a trip up to Denver, Canada or any place where weed is legal and buy some strong edibles. I have a feeling those can help you a lot more than CBD could and could replace most of the meds you're currently taking.

Good luck with everything and keep staying strong!

You and I have connected before. I live in Victoria also. I came by to look at your yard once. I have some CBD I can give you if you want to try it. I take it for anxiety. Stuff is stupid expensive but helps. Never done much for my pain.

Might try looking into Kratom.

It's still legal to buy here in Texas. I have used it when my back pain get's really bad. It feels just like Hydrocodone to me. Only real down side is having to ingest it because pill form really isn't a viable option.

Where CBD oil might help is increase the effectiveness of other drugs because of how it effects the receptors in the brain. But if I were you I wouldn't bother keeping it THC free. At your pain level, I would use the full strength real stuff. It could really help. I think Medicinal use is legal in Texas now. Not sure, but even if it isn't you shouldn't have an issue finding the stuff.

I would think if anyone met the requirements, it would be OP.

Hell if OP is hesitant to break the law, when no one would really care, go up to Colorado for a week and give it a test drive.

Not necessarily

Prescriptions for CBD with THC are authorized only for epilepsy in Texas

As far as "nobody caring", the medical board, the ones in charge of revoking medical licenses, would sure as hell care if a doctor is writing unauthorized scripts, as would the Barney Fife that pulls OP over on the interstate

non-THC CBD is legal over the counter in Texas

EDIT ... I do agree with your post on Kratom... it is very effective for pain... just make sure you get it from a reputable vendor. Problem is that stuff is mostly sold in head and smoke shops, and comes straight from Indonesia... Pretty much impossible to know what you're getting unless you lab test it... it is great For pain though, feels just like an opioid ... and is 100% legal for now....I believe it will be outlawed at some point

Kratom can also be addictive so be careful
