Has anyone done this for supplemental income? I have read that people can make $22 an hour and it doesn't seem like a hard job to do for a few hours a week. Is there a catch? Or is it straight forward?
If people "can make $22/hour" then you're probably really only going to make like $15/hour minus the fairly high cost to operate a vehicle. So you're probably really looking at a $10/hour job. But if that fits what you're looking for then it seems pretty easy, so why not give it a shot.
Waste of time and effort in my opinion. Not to mention the added wear and tear it will put on your personal vehicle. Better off working for lyft or Uber.
I'm not sure why anyone would use this service. United, Amazon, Google, and no doubt dozens of others I'm unaware of will all deliver groceries. I think Wal Mart is getting into the space as well. Shipt seems like a middle man cost you don't need.
They got into the business of grocery delivery a few years ago. They got bought by Target last year. They deliver Target and local stores. Several of the stores have launched their own (HEB) local delivery.
Most of the stores also have curbside pickup now which is still a timesaver for most people and curbs impulse buys.
I think they were ahead of the curve when they started, but now if everyone does their own deliveries you cut out the middleman. I think Shipt might go to just Target delivery, but who knows.
