WTF is it? I've googled but nothing I read really explains much of anything. Just a bunch of sales pitches.

Is it essentially THC oil? How's it made? Is it legal? Does it get you high.

It's all the new rage with pain relief and recovery and people are even giving their pets CBD oil. I just don't get what it is?

The kind you can buy in TX doesn't have THC and it doesn't get you high. My understanding is that you can buy "the good stuff" where marijuana is legal, but it still doesn't get you high.

Our massage therapist uses it and I honestly cannot tell a difference in soreness/joint pain since she started. But my husband swears he's noticed a difference, so maybe it really does work.

Or maybe husband gets a better "happy ending" than you?
Does the massage therapist have big cans?

Anything is possible, but my cans are way bigger than hers so I've never worried about it.

THC is psychoactive and gets you high, CBD is not psychoactive and doesn't. It's more of a calming compound. Anxiety, sleep aid, that kind of thing.

I will post a serious post if allowed on this forum. I am a veterinarian that became interested in medical marijuana after several vets said that they had put old dogs with awful quality of life from cancer/arthritis, etc on marijuana and dogs got up, ate and had a few more months of decent life. Went to the panel on medical marijuana at First Meth. Church in Bryan few weeks back. Too long to discuss what was said here, but sure made me a believer that doctors should be able to prescribe marijuana for selected conditions in Texas which they can't legally. Only legal marijuana in Texas is for intractable epilepsy.
Father and son, Drs Grinspoon have many blogs on medical marijuana on the internet and good place to learn about marijuana's indications for medical conditions.
Also have learned that most folks around here totally shut down their brains when marijuana is mentioned even when say medical first. Guess I will start saying cannabis. I am doing my little bit to get medical marijuana legalized in Texas as it is in 29-32 states [depends on what you read]. Reported that opioid deaths are down 25% in states that have legalized marijuana.

I have taken CBD and for me it didn't really help with pain, but helped more for like anxiety and calming the nerves.

Haven't tried it for pain yet, but next time I have something nagging me I'll give it a try.

Thanks for your link. Sorry for the misinformation. I was quoting a member of the panel and will send him this link so he can give out the correct information in the future.
Dr Peter Grinspoon's blog on medical marijuana gives several reasons MDs should get their heads out the sand and learn about medical marijuana. His words not mine.
Thanks again for link.

Should have read The Lost links more carefully before posting my above reply. Comments are for Colorado.
Deaths from opioids have been increasing every year since 2001, long before marijuana was legalized. In 2016 the one link said that from a national perspective, the U.S. recorded 63,500 drug overdose deaths in 2016 for a rate of 19.8 deaths per 100,000, nearly four points higher than Colorado's rate. The legalization of marijuana in Colorado has not increased the rate of opioid deaths in relation to rest of U.S. Another part of one of the links said the rate of opioid deaths in Massachuetts and Vermont have declined lately. Both have legalized marijuana, but couldn't fine when selling legal mariuana started.
What I am trying to say is if read all the info in both links I can't see how marijuana is increasing opioid deaths and in fact may be decreasing opioid deaths. Not fake news if I can understand the links.

I hope this is a joke. Because the son of a good friend is dead now because some quack in Katy convinced the young man's wife that he could cure him holistically with a starvation diet and CBD oil.

I bought an oil to help with sleep and a salve for pain/soreness.

The oil works, but not better than melatonin and is pretty expensive.

The salve is the best. I will have sore knees after long hikes or motorcycle rides and it helps immensely.

The conspiracy theories around it becoming and remaining a federally banned substance due to entrenched interests just seems more plausible by the day.

I've seen completely legal and physician supervised opiod treatment of multiple family members. I fail to see how MJ could do worse by them.

According to our local police chief and DEA, when Colorado legalized cannabis, black market cannabis sales dropped, causing the cartels and etc to start importing more of the harder drugs.

Unfortunately our town does not have retail or medical cannabis stores, but we do have 50-60% of population addicted to some type of opioid... at least what I recall from the converation.

Cannabis helps reduces addictive behavior due to the Endocannabinoid system and how it affects the brains reward system (dopamine/serotonin/etc).

My post from another thread:
Quote:

Just to give you a proper breakdown:

Your body produces naturally occuring cannabinoids (Endogenous Cannabinoids), Anandamide (AEA, "bliss cannabinoid") and 2-AG, these attach onto receptors CB1 and CB2, and a few other receptors that are being researched. This is called your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and it regulates homeostasis in your body.

Cannabis has phytocannabinoids, 100+ different phytocannabinoids, which in combination with terpenes (the smell), can cause a multitude of positive effects. These normally attach to the CB1, CB2, and other known cannabinoid receptors.

The most known phytocannabinoid is THC (specifically delta-9-THC; theres also THCA, THCV, d8-THC, that all do different things and aren't psychoactive). THC is produced from heat/combustion of THCA. If you were to eat a high THC cannabis flower without decarboxlyating you would be consuming mostly THCA, and probably wouldn't have any psychoactive effects.

The 'up and coming' phytocannabinoid, CBD (cannabidiol, not CBDA, CBDV, etc) is being aggressively farmed across the country as HEMP is legalized.

Hemp is cannabis, aka marijuana, with .3% or less THC. Same plants. Some are derived to express minimal THC, and some are grown and farmed at the right timing where the THC has not fully expressed itself (early after flowering, THC spikes after flowering and CBD isn't produced after flowering).

There are a multitude of drinks already on the market.

I, with full bias as I partially own a business in the industry, believe that CBD and the many other phytocannabinoids will be a normal and necessary supplement, as I think most of the world is endocannabinoid Deficient, whether they are currently displaying symptoms of Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency Syndrome of not

symptoms of CECD:Struggle with insomnia to the point of taking medication
Anxiety
Anger management issues
Depression
Conditions associated with heightened inflammation throughout your body like arthritis
Bone loss
Have chronic pain
Dementia-like symptoms
Family history of cancer

Don't trust me on this, do your own research. I'm completely enamored with everything I'm learning and have seen my own results, the results of my friends, and the results of my customers.
