I don't wear suits on a regular basis for work, but do for the occasional meeting. I work for a school district, and what drives me crazy is that our dress code for central office is shirt and tie, but not a suit. The reasoning is that our students need to see people in "professional dress." Okay, but first, nobody has shirt and tie as dress code except for waiters. Everyone else either wears a suit or is business casual. Two, students don't come to central office. And back on campus where students are at, they are having pajama day for STAAR testing or whatever. Of course, overall the district is conservative, and male teachers had to wear ties until two years ago and women were required to wear pantyhose six or seven years ago.
Anyway, I'd rather wear a suit without a tie than shirt and tie without a suit.
