Imma badass cook and do about 70% of it. the wife makes me nervous in the kitchen on anything outright a instant pot or crock pot. High expectations or just early marriage stage? Although It's kinda nice grilling three nights a week lol.

I do most of the cooking here, and yes, I'm good at it. SchnauzerDad's waistline is proof! And the little one doesn't complain either!

What do you fabricate? Care to post pictures of your shop? Would you say that you are the "hardest workin' man in the kitchen"?

Mom-O-Lot is a magnificent scratch cook. She does over 90% of the cooking in our house. I'll make breakfasts on Saturdays sometimes.

Family at the table for dinner almost every night.

My wife is a fantastic cook! Her scratch made marinara sauce is the bomb. That said, I do well myself.

I'd say she prepares 75% of the meals

But isn't your wife's place in the kitchen? So why have a personal chef?

Thanks to feminism, generations of women have absolutely no f*****g clue how to cook.

It is hilarious.

The result of this has been males (and particularly males that like to eat) have learned how to cook better than females.

It started when I was a kid when males would take charge of cooking, BBQ, fish frys, crawfish, etc.

Now it extends to all types of food.

I would say it is probably 60/40 to my wife. I handle all grilling while she may brown ground beef even though I do that 90% of the time. My wife is a good cook. She doesn't even know how to find Texags so I'm comfortable in saying my mom is better. When you have a 5 and 2 year old the menu gets limited. Before we had kids we tried a lot of different stuff. To this day I still rave about an alfredo sauce my wife made from scratch when we were first married. She has no idea how she did it or how to recreate it. Once the kids' palates expand we'll go back to trying more stuff.

No one is better than my grandma was. Everything from scratch and covered in butter and Crisco. She used to make steak fingers and fried chicken in a cast iron skillet. Nothing in this world better than those meals.

Yep.

Chicken and steak fingers cooked up in a cast iron skillet.

Like a sore d**k. You just can't beat it.

Finally realized a few years ago that Crisco is just lard marketed to white people.

For generations, women did all the cooking. Now, men do most of the cooking because we're better at it. My wife cooks one meal a week to give me a break, but it's usually packaged or box stuff. She does make really good beef stew though.

If you do any pastry, you will need that lard.

As to the OP, me. I can't be in the kitchen when my wife is cooking, but she turns out some good stuff.

I got married when I was thirty, so by that time I had already established some level of competence with Bachelor Food (burgers grilled cheese, spaghetti, grilled chicken breakfast food, sandwiches, salads, etc.). My wife likes to cook, but she is trained in the sciences and tends to cook that way (exact measurements, exact temperature, exact timer, etc.). The result is not always the best. (I flip a burger when it looks like it's ready to flip. She uses a timer. My burgers are always perfect. Hers are.....not.)

As we've gotten older, she experiments with different diets, and I prefer to just cut down the portions on the same diet if I feel like I need to lose weight. The bottom line is that 90% of the time, I cook my own meals and she cooks hers.

I think my husband could probably handle mac & cheese from a box, but that's about it. I do all the cooking, and it is actually a hobby so I don't mind. I'll try a new recipe and take/sell the result to coworkers/neighbors.

I cook about 80% of the time. The other 20% my husband grills, which he's really good at but he mysteriously can't cook anything inside the house. I'm a good cook, but not an extraordinary one.

3/5 weekdays: Wife cooks because I get home about two hours after the rest of the family.

2/5 weekdays: pizza or some other take out or leftovers.

Weekend breakfasts and dinners: Usually me (if not going out on Friday or Saturday night for dinner).

She's an OK cook. Definitely better than the bland fare served to us by my grandparents while growing up.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

I learned how to cook from my grandma and my cast-iron skillets are my most prized cookware.

There are currently three different names that I consider high probability to be Barnes. At least one has posted on this thread.

If I ever get married, I will split the cooking duties. I like cooking for other people

If he agrees to split cooking duties, which traditionally male household duties are you willing to split with him in exchange? Fixing toilets, fixing cars, mowing the yard?
