Actually we aren't the political type and really don't complain about anything. It was more of being told something we knew to be incorrect and hoping somebody could help. The people on Texags who know me irl know I'm not that kind of person. Read my response to the woman president thread and you'll get a sense of what kind of person I am (hint, it's not the kind who votes for Hillary Clinton).

In fact, the only reason the situation changed is because the woman who was helping my wife at a different window asked me why I looked so down and I mentioned it to her. I didn't complain and call supervisors and go scorched-earth. I just looked sad and she asked and then provided the correct service.

Also, my point for it being discriminatory is that it's stupid that you have to put a maiden name first then the other person's name. So yes that even extends to a straight woman who for whatever reason is being told that she has to put her maiden name first then the man's name second. Why does it matter? It is that person's name for the rest of their life, they should be able to format it however the wish. Same for the man. IF he chooses to hyphenate, why does he have to then pay money to get it in the desired order. I wasn't making it a gay issue. It is stupid for the government to create some sort of standard when the couple should be able to determine the order of the name that suits them best. It's none of the govts damn business.

I didn't. But even if I did, the DMV still needs the marriage license. They can't just take social as proof of name change.

What's funny is how incredibly liberal the states are when it comes name changes in general and how easy we make it. In Euroland, many of the most "enlightened" cultures don't allow half of what we currently do.

But you got upset because our system is working to grasp a complete overhaul of centuries long understanding of marriage, it's changing nature and the myriad of changes it brings.

Like anything, it will take time work out the kinks.

It's not a political issue. For ****s sake, can you people just evolve already and stop worrying about who people want to marry? It should be just as easy to get a name change and turns out, it was.
