Noise cancelling headphones are your friend. If you don't have them on a flight, you only have yourself to blame.

In my experience all the noise cancelling headphones do is knock out the engine noise and make the screaming and crying crystal clear

Noise canceling headphones are good at blocking constant tones below 1000Hz, which is what they're designed for.

They'll do very little against screaming children.

Hey OP are you hoping that the mother and her kids die since that is what you wish upon everyone else that does or says something that you don't like?

I've never had an issue with my headphones, but I'm a parent, maybe I'm better at shutting my ears down to crying.

What a selfish, ridiculous comment. You must not have kids... and if you do you must not travel internationally with them. You should probably consider that however "awful" your B/C flight may have been for you... that it was 100% worse for the parents of said children. As a parent of two youngsters myself who also travels internationally quite often (in B/C mind you), it is quite miserable and extremely stressful when the youngsters have had enough air time and act up a bit. Implying that Children don't belong in B/C if they can't sit perfectly quiet and still for 10+ hrs to accommodate your precious sleep pattern is ridiculous... Next time just slam more cheap B/C booze, throw in your free B/C ear plugs and top those off with some noise canceling headphones. Slip on your cheap B/C slippers and you'll be there before you know it...and life will continue!

When I take my dog out to public places I don't let him bark up a storm or cry, or run around and get in everyone's way. He behaves well. Some of you parents need to get a clue:

Parents love to hear their kids scream. It's the most relaxing sound ever and I'm sure those ****ty parents were reveling in every moment of it and they weren't at all stressed or frustrated.
