No
Yes
Vacation how you want as an adult.

What is poor is having a cruise be your only extended vacation for the year.

Any smaller cruise ship, or a much longer one (in days), has a significant higher price tag. Like a river cruise.

My aunt and uncle did one recently, it was like $15k. 18 days.

God bless America where even poor people vacation like 19th century elites.

They do its just a matter of which line. It's another one of those you get what you pay for things. Carnival is cheap and can get pretty ghetto. RC and Nor. have excellent service and you'll come across mostly middle class America. Some rich people, but not a whole hell of a lot. Princess, Celebrity, and Holland you'll find your old and retired people that have good money because they're old and retired. You may have a few honeymooners here or there on those lines because their destinations are generally better.

Went on my first cruise last year. It was ok, we had a good time. I'll probably never do it again unless it's an Alaskan cruise or one around Greece.

This is what my parents do or similar. They fly to Europe and then cruise around different places in Europe for 12-25 days. Price usually runs $25K when all said and done with airfare.

I've noticed some trashy looking people on the couple of Carnival cruises that I've been on. It's not anything that I would let bother me though and have always had fun.

I like cruises so I don't give a **** what yall think. I'd rather go Norwegian or RC than Carnival but whatever. I may take a Galveston cruise this summer if I can get a really good last minute deal.

Certain brands are for lolpoors, but I don't think cruises in general are for poors. Carnival comes to mind.

The rich go on smaller ships with a lot fewer passengers for a lot more money. Think like 20 people max on a boat as passengers but still full service and great accommodations.

NCL can be a pretty good time and has some pretty fun promos lately like free liquor. I would not cruise Carnival.

I met a billionaire on the one cruise I went on.

Anyone who buys the unlimited booze package on a cruise is a billionaire for all intents and purposes.

20 people? Lol. That's called chartering a yacht.

I got sick on a cruise. Not from the boat rocking, but from watching all the folks stuff themselves with all that food.

Why did you spend so much time watching people eat

Norovirus is very common on cruises.

I wasn't. Just everytime you turned around lines for food.

Been on Carnival and Disney. Won't go on Carnival again. I don't remember anyone on the Disney cruise that was revolting, disgusting, or pissed me off.

If they have kids Disney cruise line is the way to go. We have been on Carnival and Disney and while Carnival is fine you can't beat the Disney boats with kids.

I like cruises and I don't care if trash is on it. They are fun to laugh at, and they don't go to the same locations as me while in port.

I'd rather vacation in a Pecos, Texas Motel 6 than go on any cruise to anywhere. The whole thing seems miserable.

We've been on two Disney cruises and loved them both. Top notch. People without kids take them too.

BULLSH:T! Norovirus NOT "very common on cruises". We have been on 17 cruises with more than 120 days at sea & we have never been affected by Noro or been on a cruise that was affected by it. From the CDC website.... "Health officials track illness on cruise ships. So outbreaks are found and reported more quickly on a cruise ship than on land."

That being said, I agree with others here, Carnival IMO is a rowdier crowd, more drunks per sq. ft. Than the others. Royal CCL is a couple of notches above Carnival, as a class of people. For my money cruising is the most affordable option out there for vacationing, due in part to the proximity of Houston & Galveston, though you are pretty limited in your selection of ports to visit, mostly Western Caribbean. That doesn't bother us as much, the ports are not a big deal to us, we'd be happy to just ride around for a week and never stop. We are more about the cruising than ports to visit.

Our favorites are (descending order):

  • Royal Caribbean & Princess
  • Holland America
  • Norweigian
  • Carnival

Carnival is crap. Been on a few Royal Caribbean cruises and they were ok but we have been on 10 Disney cruises and they are really fun ships.

Nope... Not common at all...

http://fortune.com/2015/04/15/5-cruise-lines-most-stomach-bug-outbreaks/

The odds of contracting are very low. However, cruise ships ARE the epicenter of Norovirus.

Also, most cases can go unreported on a cruise as long as numbers are low. The last thing that cruise liners want is to be in the news for a virus.

Been on 5 cruises. 2 with friends, 2 with family (Hawaii and Alaska), 1 with wife and all were pretty good and very different experiences. I enjoy slumming it on a cruise getting hammered looking at the ocean.

If you go on a $399pp 4 day Carnival Cruise, you will not be impressed. The Bigger Carnival Ships and longer cruises are full of people you can get along with.
