1. Contracts are the result of negotiations but can never ever ever be re-negotiated once executed.

Realtalk, not necessarily. Just because the funds were returned doesnt mean a separate lawsuit wont be issued to recapture them, it just means they didnt have the right to hold the money under specific performance in the signed contract.

They can be, but both parties have to be willing. One clearly is not, especially after the speed bumps alluded to by the prospective bride in the email posted. I am far from alone in this impression, and the behavior of you youngsters on this thread is exactly what was predicted by driveon's first post here (about the 6th on the thread). In other words, what's quoted directly above is yet another attempt to describe events in a manner that suits your position, rather than as they evidently really are. Good luck with that approach - it will continue to be fun for everyone else, whether you are in our country's service or not.

My only issue with the owner is that all she would have to say is "Sorry, but it is not our policy to refund deposits. I am sorry for your misfortune" and leave it at that. Instead she decided to write a very condescending letter taking jabs at the bride. I do not trhink that her response had to be so ugly. Bad business in my opinion.
