It's pretty indicative of the current cookie cutter corporate radio that a DJ on a country music station in Atlanta is fired for having a heavy southern accent.
Yeah, and don't forget that the biggest of the corporate radio conglomerates, Clear Channel Communications, is owned by none other than Lowry Mays, an Aggie whose name can be found on the business school doors. Even though Ags are supposed to support other Ags, I've decided to wean myself away from the Clear Channel radio stations here in Dallas, due to the cookie cutter mentality you speak of. For the most part, I only listen to Wild 100.7 (owned by a smaller conglomerate), KDL 106.7, and ESPN 103.3. Maybe other people will notice that the quality of radio has declined and will boycott Clear Channel as well in attempt to get us back to high quality radio...but my guess is that most people are quite happy with their cookie cutter playlists and syndicated DJs and that corporate radio is here to stay.
