Every time I go into wells fargo they won't leave me alone about getting a worthless visa/mastercard debit card from them.

I'm starting to lose my patience with them. Are they getting some king of kickback on this?

All I want is an ATM that requires a PIN to get money out.

I hope you aren't *that person* who still writes checks at the grocery store.

Dude, get the debit card. It's much more useful.

And no, they don't get a kickback or commission, but they are required to sign up a certain number of people to be at their expected performance level, and anything above that will help with their raise.

I was a teller in college at Wells Fargo and yes, I got a commission.

Hell no I don't write checks. I use my credit card. It offers a lot more protection to the consumer than a debit card. Visa/Mastercard debit cards are trash.

I can still use my ATM card to make purchases anyway (I do this at Specs and other places with a debit discount)by using the PIN.

The teller tried to convince me that "like 99% of the time if your card is stolen we put the money back the same day". I know she is just doing her job - so I was polite...

Banking is no longer people sitting behind a desk or in a teller cage taking orders. Now everyone from the head lender down to the student intern have to meet a quota each month for selling services to customers. Not so much the case with the home town bank, but definitely so with the big boys.

I was a teller in college at Wells Fargo and no, I did not get a commission. However, they DID push sales like no other financial institution I have worked for, and we did have ambitious sales goals. I want to say that there were incentives, like being entered into a drawing, or being able to wear jeans on Fridays for a quarter if we met them, but there was no commission.

There is one teller at the NG location that I now avoid because she won't drop it. I start the conversation by saying "no I don't want the card" and she keeps on anyway.

Commission isn't the correct word, sorry. I got a bonus.

Not commissions, bonuses.

When I was a WF teller in school you had a quota of around 50 closed referral transactions per quarter. After that you got paid a bonus per transaction. It was possible to get alot of scratch for doing that. Getting people with accounts to get a debit card was the easiest.

I used to work at Wells Fargo in college, and they gave me hookers, blow, and a car.
