Hard to imagine a justifiable deterrent to a ticket exchange forum on Texags, that's limited to established, verified Aggie members in order to create a reduced risk environment where they can help one another.

How exactly does this work? Can you explain how PM is the best route? How do I go about having them prove to me that "they have an acct with…"?

I'm sure we will have some tickets to sell this season, and I want to be able to do this without fear on both ends.

Can you give step by step most possible failsafe method to accomplish this on TexAgs Ticket Exchange? I know that would be appreciated by many subscribers!

If go the PM route make sure to still search their profile (not sure can easily click on profile to get to their page from PM) to see how long on Texags, posting history etc.

I'll back Oohsa up a little here, TA isn't running a verification program for people accessing the site, and anyone can impersonate a poster which has happened a bunch via text messages - pretending to be a certain poster.

Buying stars meaning pays for a subscription to Texags, therefore can send direct messages (PM/private messages).

Lot of people assume since get a PM the person is 100% legit when that isn't the case.

That being said most people getting scammed the scammers are texting/emailing them and person doesn't verify they are who they say they are.

You have "stars." Any subscription level has at least one star. They are at the end of the user badges.

It's sort of a pain in the butt, but those of us who have been on TA for a long time can verify users fairly quickly (less than a minute).

Users have been scammed when someone calls or emails them (if they posted their info) and claims they are a particular user on TexAgs when they are not. The best way to combat this is to start the interaction via PM; that way you know for sure what user they are.

Then, I would check the profile to determine:

• Do they have an AgTag (not 12thMan Foundation donor)
• Does their account have sufficient history (>1yr) and normal posting behavior
• Do they have a subscription (yes, if they PM'd)

You can view their profile by clicking on their username in a post, or you can go to your own profile, and then use the user search down the left side of the page.

You are, of course, free to not use any of these filters as you determine who you want to deal with, but I would be suspicious and vet the person even further if they don't fit the above criteria.

To me that would save a step in the process (many folks aren't good at search function to find user).

Thanks so much for the clarification! I think I am getting a handle on this now. Yes, I was scammed by because I posted my phone number on a WTB post and proceeded with all correspondence through text. I had been doing this for years selling our football tickets when needed and had never, ever been scammed. Obviously, things have changed! It's no longer just good, honest Aggies on TexAgs, unfortunately. I will definitely take all the "helps" I've gotten here going forward. Appreciate! Also, I am a donor to 12th Man Foundation and don't understand why that verification still doesn't show up on my posts? I will call the Foundation tomorrow. Thanks again!

Says his tag is Sharpshooter which there is no way.

Would not give name but Zelle account is Audrey McNaughton 248-912-7826. Would not answer questions quickly and would not give credible, verifiable information.

Was contacted about tickets we had for sale for McNeese game. Never got back to me to buy. Then texted Monday after the game about the tickets. Replied had BG tickets and included price. Gave venmo info but never heard back until last night that he wanted them. told him to venmo money. Then he asked for screenshot of the tickets in transfer page. Sent him screenshot and didn't hear back. Started getting suspicious so checked scammer thread and the above number was in a post. This person may have screenshot of tickets but doesn't have tickets, at least for our tickets . Beware if you are contacted by the number above about tickets.

Just made account today and said he just bought them on Ticketmaster but is wanting less money. Did not scam me but has all of the warning signs so watch out.

470-465-5681 tried to scam me on the classified section. If he is doing it over there then he will be doing it on the ticket exchange.

Is there any way that (I know it probably is not easy) we can be able to leave reviews for others that we have dealt with in ticket exchange? I always get so skeptical and feel bad questioning other Aggies so much just to make sure I'm not getting scammed. I was questioning this guy a lot this weekend and tickets came through and everything worked out. Just wish I could let others know without them having to go through the same thing. I get there could probably be a way where people make fake accounts and fake their reviews but at least it would require them more steps and more accounts to look at to see how long they have been active. Just a thought.
