This...I'm just worried about getting him on campus and hoping he doesn't go straight pro with some of the times he is running.

I'm just as worried about him just signing with another school, nowadays nothing is guaranteed lol! But he seems like he loves A&M, so o can't wait till he's officially enrolled and on campus! If anything he comes for a year! I wish we went to the transfer portal and got him some sprinting help to put a nice relay together!

Yeah I saw Bobby Drake ran 10.12 in the 100m at the Edd Burleson relays but I have been looking for a wind reading to see if it was wind legal

I really want him to consider this sport in college! Especially if he's still learning and new to it! Tell Jimbo him and Bryce can go pass rush sets at meets in downtime

And as you know, elite shot putters can dance circles around o-linemen when it comes to pure athletic ability. Matson, Stulce, Barnes ...beasts.

And has essentially no chance of making it to state in either event. Region 1 is insane. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, sub-10:30 is the starting point. Shewaye is amazing. Maybe if she can drop a few more seconds in the 3200, she could get the wildcard.

Nearly impossible in the mile! But the 3200 will be absolutely insane! The Humphries girls and Bushaw and Shewaye will be must see! Lewisville Flower Mound, Lewisville Flower Mound, Southlake Carroll, Southlake Carroll, vs Prosper! I'll be a Prosper Eagle for the day!

She either needs to PR but it'll be rough because the others girls have 800 speed whereas Shewaye is more built for the longer distances! Maybe she catches the other girls trying to preserve energy to pull if the distance trio! But I'm rooting for her! Missing class on Thursday and I'll be at multiple area meets around south Texas!

Not related (well I hope lol) but Cedar Park's Isabel Conde De Frankenburg didn't race the 800/1600 at district and only ran the 3200 placing 2nd! That's a huge shocker from a state aspect!

These district meet results are all over the place. On top of that, it shows that Carroll already had their area meet. And on top of that I have no idea what area even means. I can't find area alignments anywhere, how many districts per area. I quit paying attention in football when the playoff brackets became impossible to understand and they started giving trophies to everyone. Was hoping T&F would be more user friendly. Any help? I have a paid Milesplit, of course.

Yeah so typically area meets are only two district against each other! 6A District 1 vs 6A District 2! Each classification has 32 districts, 4 regions of 8 districts! So you all in 6A Region 3, the areas are 17/18, 19/20, 21/22, 23/24!

The top 4 from each district advance to area and they will compete against the top 4 from the other district! Essentially 1 heat 8 athletes! So since each region has 4 areas, 4 from each area advance to regionals! So the area meet is a little tricky because it's such a small field and you have to factor in fatigue since it's a quick and short meet!

HOWEVER! Some districts agree to forego area and only allow the top 2 from each district meet to advance, but that's not really a common practice anymore!

So the general rule of thumb is 4 from district to area, 4 from area to regionals, 2 from regionals to state plus one wild card! 32 districts, 16 areas, 4 regions! Go UIL!

Milesplit is sometimes reliable depending on the area! But it usually does a good job covering the Houston region! Especially when trying to see how the competition is! So right now they have the districts results page up so districts 17-24 will be your region! And when you have an athlete in 3rd in their region, the price for Milesplit is extremely worth it lol

Thanks. I found their district results hub. A few districts are missing. As for wild cards, I assume anything for 800, 1600, and 3200 will come from Region 1. Even if Region 3 had a great #3 runner, they'd schedule the race at 4 p.m. on a 90 degree day.

So fluky. Parker ran 4:55 junior year and finished 4th.

Edit to add that Region 3 only has 3 of the 8 districts loaded. Really 2, since district 21 is wrong. They loaded in the JV/freshman results, lol.

Yeah that makes sense and the Humprhies will push the pace to assure that region gets the wild card in!

And wow it seems like it's just Region 3 with most results missing! But seems like the 800 in district 22 is kind of slow! Their top ranked time from athletic.net is a 2:29 this season! So your daughters district might possibly advance the 4 that qualified to area!

With this site you can make a free account and get good rankings, but some meets don't upload their results, but it's still a strong indicator to district, regional, and state rankings!

Yes, Area is usually easier for our girls than district. For example, the Atascocita 4x4 didn't qualify. Atascocita's #2 800 runner didn't make it.

What area meet/s are you headed to?

The setup is crazy! Sometimes the 8 in one area might be better than all 8 in another area! But hey that's the UIL for you! I've always wanted to propose maybe just get the top 16 recorded times throughout the year and send them straight to regionals sort of like college but with wind aided times and grandma and grandpa stopwatches timing meets that would be impossible!

I have my kids throwing in Corpus tomorrow for the 5A 29/30 area meet! I wanted to see some meets in SA but everything is Wednesday! So I might not be able to go to any! Then after classes Thursday I'll attend the area meet for the 31/32 districts in the valley! San Juanita Leal is one of the states top distance runners and it's fun watching her win the race 200 meters in and leave everyone behind! I'm also in Houston this weekend so maybe I'll look for some meets there as long as they don't interfere with my Taylor Swift concert Saturday night

It's crazy how it's obvious some districts are considerably faster than others and only 4 will get out of there! Like a Katy district where the Katy Tompkins sprint relay didn't get out or a Fort Bend ISD district where there is talent everywhere! But that's what makes track fun! Area just complicates it all even more!
