Yep. The Dumbas hit was dirty and he has a track record of doing it. Still makes no sense how that was ok. And I agree on the Eichel hit. I can't stand Tkachuk, but even Insee that he shouldn't have received a misconduct for that.

Completely agree. I'm a card carrying member of the Tkachuk hate club.

Eichel may have just messed up his neck again.

Also, maybe I'm just completely biased (I am), but that still seemed less than Dumbas hit to Pav. And Tkachuk got game misconduct. Big, nasty hit, but Eichel was already falling on his own and still on the puck.

Update: Eichel is not injured

For all intents and purposes we got 3rd place this year, I'm telling myself that to feel better. We lasted longer than the team who lost in the ECF and the team who beat us is kicking the **** out of Florida.

I'm not going to watch a second of this series. It's frustrating that we were so close to at least forcing a game 7. That Suter screw up in game 2 was a killer. Laying 2 eggs at home in game 3 and 6 sucked too.

Well, Vegas has been completely dominating the series so far. I can't believe it based on how the Panthers ran roughshod over Carolina.

It gives me peace of mind knowing that we put up 2 wins against this Vegas team because so far Florida is in the same boat.

We did come in third. And if it had been us against Florida, we may have been able to win the cup. Stupid Vegas!!!!

Whats up with him basically diving off his skates before the hit?

Marchessault is killing it. He was deadly against Stars and continues to pour goals in.

I think it's pretty clear that Vegas has maybe the best and deepest d core, at least in the playoffs and maybe the league, and they have carried them throughout the playoffs. They don't quite have the individual talent like Miro, Makar, Hedman, Karlsson or Fox, but they have what feels like four to six guys in the tier below. Pietrangelo, Theodore, Whitecloud and Hague are so good, and have been a rock for Vegas.

At the start of the playoffs, my son reached out to me about getting game data from the NHL's APIs and then doing some analysis, so we started working on something in the evenings. Saw something interesting in the last 2 games of the Kraken series and thought I'd see what y'all thought.

In game 6 in Seattle, the Kraken scored 6 goals, and 4 of them were from Oettinger's right side. I remember they beat his blocker hand multiple times. One of their other goals was with less than 1 minute remaining in the game, so I would toss that one out.

In game 7 in Dallas, most of their shots were from Otter's left/glove-hand side. To me, it looks like the Stars made a concerted effort to force this. Thoughts? Is that possible, or just coincidence?

In the first pic, Seattle's goals are the dark blue dots near the bottom goal. In the second pic, the light blue markers are their shots on goal and their goals.

It was clear in the Seattle series that high blocker was an issue for Otter.

Right around that time I think I remember Razor or somebody else say high blocker is always a goalie's most difficult save. Maybe it was Boucher on the ESPN broadcasts.

They were discussing if Seattle had cracked a code on Otter and the resident goaltender noted it's a hard save for everybody.

Alex DeBrincat has submitted a preferred trade list to Ottawa. The Stars are supposedly on that list. Would be interested to see what they'd want in return. Whatever it is, it's probably too much for Dallas because I'm assuming it would include at least one of: Johnston, Stankoven or Bourque. If they'd take Marchment, Dellandrea and a draft pick, that would be incredible.

I'd send Bourque off for Debrincat in some package. Johnston and Stankoven are non-starters.

Given DeBrincat's age, I think I'm with you. It would obviously depend on the other pieces, but this organization isn't lacking at center depth and DeBrincat is pretty great.

Lucky find today!

If anyone is interested in a signed bottle from the Eagle, I stumbled across a couple in a store in Allen. They still have had one on the shelf this afternoon.

The Liquor Outpost
950 W Stacy Rd #120, Allen, TX 75013

I think the price was the normal one too, not inflated because of the signature. It was around $70.

We should trade Marchment and his contract for a 7th rounder. Seguin is our only worse contract right now.

We gotta chill on the chunk Marchment talk. Yes, he had an up and down season with prolonged slumps, but he didn't have consistent line mates at all this season and I don't think who he played with fit him at all. This was also his first season in Dallas. Even the all world Joe Pavelski struggled his first year here.

I'd only part with Marchment as a package deal for an upgrade in the lineup. He's a good player.

The Hockey News proposed trade scenarios for DeBrincat. For Dallas it was Stankoven, Stranges, and our '24 second round pick. Yeah, that ain't happening. It's really just an absurd suggestion.
I'd offer Bourque, Marchment, and a late round pick or Bourque, Dellandrea and that '24 pick. They're not getting 2 prospects (1 elite and 1 good, mind you) and a pick out of Jim Nill, nor should they.

Debrincat is a very good player, but he's also small. If him and Stankoven are on your roster then you have two 5'7" guys in your forward group. We had issues with Vegas pushing us around with their defensemen.

Debrincat is also an RFA. He would probably cost $9 million for one year or more likely would require a sign a trade. Signing him seems like it would hurt the Stars ability to properly address the defense.

As for trading Marchment, I think his trade value is very low and I don't expect that Ottawa would have much interest.

Stars need to clear cap space, but we don't have any easily moved contracts.

As much as it pains me, Vegas was the deepest and most complete team. They deserved to win it all.
But the way this final played out, I'll never be convinced that if not for that end-of-game-2 and beginning-of-game-3 sequence last series, the Stars would be hoisting the cup. This sucks.

Roope Hintz still finished tied for 3rd in playoff scoring. Pretty remarkable. He's without a doubt the best player on our roster right now.

It's always fun to watch guys lift the cup. Good for Vegas. They were a machine.
