I'd love to make the trip for a game in Canada at some point. I think year after next for my son's senior year, we'll try and do a big roadtrip. As it stands for this coming season, we're planning a group trip to Vegas in mid October to coincide with the Oct. 17 game against the Knights.

A buddy and I made a vacation out of the NY swing we had in January. Went to Stars/Isles on Tuesday and then at MSG vs the Rangers on Thursday. It was a great time!

We're already eyeing the Toronto/Montreal or Vancouver/Seattle swings for this next season.

Looks like no Suter buyout, and rumors are swirling that Nill is looking at freshly bought-out Blake Wheeler.

I get the Suter hate, I truly do, but I just don't think it's financially a good idea. We'd be stuck paying him for another four years, and even though it's not a ton, I'd think you just want to be free of him completely. Every little bit of cap space in this league is huge.

I was leaning that way, but for 2 things:

1. The salary cap will spike after this season (I've heard as much as 5% next year and another sizeable jump the following year), so eating that cost for 2 years isn't that big of a problem.

2. Suter could work as a 3rd pairing guy playing 16 minutes a night and no PP. I just don't trust that DeBoer would do that to him, as long as he's on the roster.

If I'm wrong about #2, I don't mind them keeping him on board.

I totally agree. I would also be really curious to see what his buyout would be next season, because next year feels like a guaranteed buy out.

I'll also add this; if Nill can sign a d man who's flat out better, or someone like Bichsel just busts down the door, maybe then Suter would take a 3rd pairing role.

There's the Glendenning replacement, I guess. He's a slight upgrade offensively and from a +/- perspective but a major downgrade in the face-off circle and doesn't really kill penalties.

I think we're fine on the face off dot. Benn, Seguin, Pavelski and Faksa are all damn near elite in that category, and they are training Wyatt up as well.

I am also very curious to hear how guys like Bichsel and Kyrou are progressing in their development, because they are the next men up in terms of defenders who could make an impact going into the Fall of 2024. We could also lose 2 men in Hakanpaa and Suter after next season, because i see no chance they resign Hakanpaa and don't buyout Suter of his last year.

I'm really curious with these signings. None of them are bad by any stretch, but we aren't exactly open at a bunch of spots either.

Rumors are Nill is actively exploring the trade market. No way we go to camp with this many forwards.

My buddy said there is a rumor of Faksa and Lindell for Karlsson. I know most of you would love that but it would make me a bit sad.

I love the Duchene signing, honestly. He still has game left, and it's only a one year deal. Pairing him with Seguin seems like a great idea.

I really learned to like Faksa this year and thought he was a very positive player, but from a GM perspective he still makes too much money for what he does. I would be bummed to lose him as well, because I love the way he plays on the fourth line.

I don't want to say Lindell can kick rocks…but…
