I agree, she's fast. But Mu is in a class all her own. She ran the same time in her heat as Hodgkinson by essentially jogging two laps.

If you guys go watch the Mu shorts on YouTube (from the QR code she wears on her leg), she states that she's going for the double gold in the 800/400 in the next olympics (or at least that's her goal).

I think Mu struggles getting out of the blocks in the 400m which is probably what she's focusing on when she's training. We know she has the speed.

McLaughlin could challenge the world record in the flat 400m and that's held by a juiced up East German.

The current WR is 47.6sec. For elite sprinters, hurdles normally slow you down in the 400m by approx 3 seconds. McLoughlin just ran 50.6sec. Do the math and we're putting the WR in jeopardy.

I was trying to remember how many times McLaughlin has run here at A&M. We hosted the SEC and NCAA Indoors in 2018 so I'm sure she ran the 400 in both of those meets. She seemed stunned at the time she ran, almost like when Bob Beamon had that jump in Mexico City.

"Beamonesque" is a term used to describe world records that will likely last for decades.

"Usain Bolt's 9.55sec 100m record is 'Beamonesque'."

That might need to be changed to "McLoughlinesque".

I seriously doubt any one of us will live to see her record broken. (unless it's by McLoughlin herself of course)
