Indeed! My confidence on the men's side is growing! If we can get sprinting points in the 100-200-400-800-400 Hurdles... wow wee! It's a tough ask and will take a lot, but man would that be huge! Add scoring from both relays, and we're fighting for a podium spot easily!

The women's side performed well too! I'm happy Aliu and Martin are both healthier and running again! Deshae Wise surprised me! If her and Mustin can keep improving then what a boost that will be! Acquah, Distin, Young, Kaylah and the 4x400 will do their thing! Help from our javelin girls, Laila in the sprints, the 4x100, and some other points such as Zhane in the long jump, an 800 girls, or another 400 runner would be huge! I expect both sides to fight for a top 3/4 team finish hands down!

Lamara is preparing to go to the next level. She is well coached. Unlike the other one who jumped 1.95m yesterday and won but instead of going for the world championship standard of 1.96m, she had 3 attempts at 1.98m and missed all attempts.
Lamara went for the world championship standard in Austin after winning the event and she is focused on getting over 1.98, 1.99 and 2.00m

A couple of months ago, the University of Texas announced that they were going to provide a $6,000 (approximate) stipend per year to every student-athlete at the school. This affects all student-athletes, including Walk-Ons.
Since Texas is doing this, the other D-I programs that want to compete with Texas will have to follow suit. Texas has just under 700 student-athletes at the school so we are talking about an extra $4,000,000+ that the school has to come up with each year.
Most athletic departments are not prepared for this kind of expense that wasn't budgeted for.
Their answer is to reduce roster sizes.

Can't it not be paid by the university? Thought NIL stuff is all private?

It can't be paid by the university and in Texas the university can't organize any of the NIL stuff either.

I don't think this a NIL payment per se, but it's from the fallout of the NIL lawsuit and additional academic benefits that the university can provide, but I need to do some digging. I also believe SEC rules allows for similar payments.

This program may have been a factor---I'm not sure. But she was also given a last-minute NIL deal. If you happen to see one of our T&F coaches, ask them. They'll give you a straight answer.
