According to a Swimswam article Shane Casas is leaving Texas A&M and is transferring to Texas
I really didn't expect this after he developed so much under the Aggie coaches

I sense something dirty took place here!! I wonder if his trials performance created any rough feelings and if he felt he peaked to early! Texas had a strong showing at the Olympics I grew up near Casas, so I can ask around local coaching circles back home if they have any more on this!

Didn't know he was arrested leading up the trials either... also don't like how he tells SwimSwam he's not ready to comment yet... why answer in the first place!! That dual meet against UT will be crazy!

I didn't know anything about any arrest. I just came here to ask about the rumors. Whatever happens, I hope he does well and what's best for himself as an athlete and a person. I was proud watching him in the trials and hope he stays with the aggies, and that he will always feel welcome and appreciated in Aggieland.

How are we going to pay more attention to our swimming and diving team?

Thought inter conference transfers were verboten ?

I was surprised by his Trials failure. No so much anymore. Nothing says laser focus on training quite like public intoxication.

I'd love to see more swimming posts on TexAgs. We don't hear much about these teams.

He transferred, but didn't swim for the D1 team at that school? He swam for the school's swim club instead?

Yeah I think he finished his degree with us, then moved to Austin to train with a professional group led by Eddie Reese… to sum it up he wears a longhorn swimming cap while having a huge A&M tattoo on his rib cage lol! I know he loves A&M, he just wanted to train with pros and have a different scenery in Austin

Guys…Bob Bowman, Phelp's former coach, now works at tu. Not that surprising, unfortunately. They're going to start stacking championships again, with Olympic hopefuls.

Wonder if Marchand has or will relocate to Austin

This happened in 2021, well before Bowman moved.

The A&M men's program fired their coach and hired a female assistant with no head coaching experience from another program. Texas hired a proven winner fresh off an NCAA championship with multiple Olympians under his tutelage.

Why he would move over to Austin to either Longhorn Aquatics (club team) or tu for swimming should be obvious.

He's an Aggie, he seems to love A&M, but he's also not stupid.

Crying about? Seems like Taylor Swift is a pretty accurate, age appropriate handle for you.

No one is crying about anything, just pointing out that if you're a top level, Olympic caliber swimmer, you're probably better off served (at least until Aggie program has its feet under it) training elsewhere.

FYI, I know several top level club swimmers who didn't even consider A&M in their recruitment (and their club coaches told them they should look elsewhere).

I'm an Aggie and support all of the athletic programs, but the new staff has a lot of ground to make up in the SEC. I wish them nothing but success.

Our new coach was the associate head coach for a program that just won 4 straight national championships and had the most female swimmers representing the US in the Olympics including Gretchen Walsh, Alex Walsh, Kate Douglass, Paige Madden, Emma Weber who combined for 5 golds, 5 silvers, and a bronze, she obviously must know something about recruiting and winning
