I agree with you generally, but I'm not there. I don't know how she feels. 800 is definitely a risk unless she just goes to the front and boat races everybody in each race. Which is probably the strategy I'd employ. I think she could definitely make the team in the 400, but that would put the 800 in jeopardy as she might tire. And the 800 is probably her best bet at gold. So what's the goal? Make the team or win gold? Not sure there is a perfect answer. There are tradeoffs.

Went back and looked at the winning times for world champions.

2012 Olympics - 1:57.23
2013 World Championship - 1:57.38
2015 World Championship - 1:58.03
2016 Olympics - 1:55.28
2017 World Championship - 1:55.16
2019 World Championship - 1:58.04

Mu's personal best is 1:57.73

Looks like the 2016 and 2017 times were the exception and Athing should be competitive in most years.

Yes really love his spot! He'll have Godwin on his outside who has a crazy fast first 200! We just have to hope Ross or Cherry die out keeping up with Norman and Deadmon can beat one of them to sneak into 3rd! There's a real opportunity Deadmon can snag a spot today! Bryce also has ran very smooth preliminary races! In both races he's gotten out extremely fast only to maintain until 120 where he has an extra gear to move into a qualifying spot! Hopefully he has legs under him today and go crazy! When we went 44.44 at the championships it was from lane 3 and after he had run 2 relay races (4x1, 4x4) and a 400 prelim! I'm expecting a huge PR and a fight for 3rd! Even top 6 guarantees him a spot on TEAM USA as a 4x400 relay pool member!

Fred Kerley has a scary scary heat! He needs to get top 3 to advance or the next two fastest times to advance to the finals! I believe Fred will advance, but with the 100 it's always scary! Baker looked great in the prelims, and Fred will need to hold off Bracy and Lyles! After Fred having a round start it was amazing to see his top end speed! He looked good yesterday let's hope he can bring it today also!

Man the US is stupid deep in the 100 now. Coleman isn't even here, and Bracy if he hadn't pulled up could have probably beat Lyles in that race.

Bromell obviously the best in class but your next two are a couple quarter milers by trade (Bednarik and Kerley)
