So now the USC girl can't clear 6'0 feet and their 400 runner goes 53.5
Sorry to ask since I'm sure now common knowledge, but is Mu not running the 400 to preserve energy for the 800, or is there something else going on? Thnx

Don't worry for asking, and she isn't running the 400 at all! Although she would have had a great chance to advance she believes her best opportunity would be in the 800 and it's her better shot at Tokyo as well! After a whole indoor/outdoor season it's good she rests a little before the 3 rounds of 800 runs! She could still be up for 4x400 consideration and she should easily have a spot on that relay!

Brandon Miller got SERIOUSLY BOXED IN and had to run around 3 guys from lane 1 to lane 3 to make a kick to automatically advance. It's almost like he ran horizontally to get around people!
Brandon had terrible position when he let the guys pass on the curve but went far outside with confidence and had a great last 50m

That move scared me but wow to have that confidence against professional runners is amazing! It's not college where the entire field fades at the end, everyone else has a kick here too... but B Miller's was better

yeah so this year to get to Tokyo you also have to hit the Olympic standard! So if you get top 3 and don't have the Olympic Standard you won't advance! So she went for it in this race which is a gutsy gutsy move! Mu, Deadmon, and Miller already hit the standard!aggiedrjdub said:

Yes he advanced! But at the trials there's a prelim, then a semi, then a final! But he moved on as did all the other former and current Aggies running today!

Olympic Standard is the minimum time you have to run to get to go to the Olympics. You could finish in the top 3 here at the trials but if you don't have the Olympic Standard you don't get to go.
For example...say you finished 4th at the trials but if someone that finished in the top 3 doesn't have the standard and you do...you go instead of that person.

Nope unless the athletes who do place top 3 don't have it! So it's basically the top 3 athletes who also have the standard advance to Tokyo. It's really weird and we're bound to see some awkward celebrations and heartbreaks come finals time!

I saw one for sure. 1972 Texas Relays. Kjell Isaksson pole vault. 18'1. I'm not sure but the Aggies might have tied one at in about 1970 Texas Relays 880 relay. I was there but need help with my memory.
