Lamar transfer LHP Jarret Williams commits to Aggie baseball

On Thursday, former Lamar left-hander Jarret Williams announced that he will transfer to Texas A&M to continue his collegiate career for the Fightin' Texas Aggies.

Originally from Santa Fe, Texas, the 6-foot, 170-pound southpaw was named a midseason first-team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game in 2026.

During his lone season in Beaumont, Williams was 2-3 in 16 appearances that included 12 starts as he owned a 3.83 ERA across 56.1 innings pitched. He struck out 52 batters and walked 22 while holding opponents to a .156 average against.

His best outings came against McNeese on March 13, at New Orleans on April 25 and vs. Northwestern State in the Southland Tournament on May 15. In each outing, Williams pitched at least five innings of scoreless baseball and won two of the three contests. His career high in strikeouts was eight against Northwestern State on April 19 in Beaumont.

As victors of the SLC, Lamar earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament, and in his lone appearance at the College Station Regional, Williams allowed five runs across 2.1 innings in a 19-6 loss to Southern Cal.

According to his Twitter account, Williams’ fastball sits at 88-92 mph with a top of 94 to go along with a deep arsenal that also features a two-seamer, cutter, curveball, slider, changeup and sweeper.

Following the postseason exit and the departure of head coach Will Davis to Houston, Williams entered the portal and now becomes A&M's seventh pitching addition and 11th overall transfer pledge during the current window.
