Texas State transfer RHP Wade Cooper commits to Aggie baseball
One of the nation's top mid-major relievers is an Aggie.
On Thursday, Texas State transfer Wade Cooper announced his commitment to Texas A&M, as the talented right-hander will continue his collegiate career in Aggieland.
Cooper is the third pitching addition during this cycle, and his pledge comes shortly after Barry Enright was announced as A&M’s new pitching coach.
As a freshman in 2026, Cooper owned a 4.72 ERA to go along with a 1.35 WHIP in 23 appearances. Across his 66.2 innings pitched, he accumulated 73 strikeouts, allowed just 25 walks and notched five saves as opponents hit .256 against him.
The Aggies saw his capabilities in a 9-8 loss at Irvine-Rasmussen Ballpark on April 7 as Cooper used his wipe-out breaking ball to record a four-out save, allowing a run on one hit while striking out two.
Later in the season, Cooper moved to Texas State’s starting rotation and made six starts as the Bobcats reached the College Station Regional.
Originally from Del Rio, the 6-foot-1 and 218-pound standout becomes A&M's sixth overall addition during the current portal window, as the Aggies have another talented young arm to work with.
