Buzz Williams and the Fightin’ Texas Aggies were announced as a No. 4 seed in the South Region during Sunday’s 2025 NCAA Selection Show.

Headed to Denver, the Maroon & White will face No. 13 seed Yale on Thursday in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

A month ago, the selection committee listed A&M as a potential No. 2 seed during its 2025 Bracket Preview. However, a four-game losing streak knocked the Aggies down a couple of seed lines as they narrowly missed out on being a No. 3 seed, which would have matched the program’s highest seeding.

Williams & Co. enter the Big Dance after an impressive regular season that saw the Aggies go 22-9 and 11-7 in the vaunted SEC. A&M also owned an impressive seven wins against Quadrant 1 opponents, including the program’s first-ever upset of an AP No. 1-ranked team when the Aggies knocked off Auburn on March 4 at Reed Arena. Other resume highlights include neutral-site victories over Texas Tech and Purdue in December.

Led by A&M’s all-time leading scorer Wade Taylor IV, the Aggies are one of the nation’s most experienced teams. Taylor, a senior from Dallas, is part of an eight-man senior class that includes Henry Coleman III, Andersson Garcia, Manny Obaseki, Zhuric Phelps, Hayden Hefner, CJ Wilcher and Jace Carter. Further, junior forwards Solomon Washington and Pharrel Payne are heavily involved in Williams’ rotation as A&M prides itself on its offensive rebounding prowess and hair-on-fire defensive style.

This will be the third consecutive season A&M has received a bid in the NCAA Tournament. Such a streak is the program’s second-longest run of tournament appearances, behind the six straight from 2006-2011.

TexAgs will have more Selection Sunday coverage shortly.
