On Saturday night, Texas A&M returned to the win column with an 11-point victory over the LSU Tigers. Head coach Buzz Williams joined Monday's edition of TexAgs Live to discuss the Aggies' recent level of play, an upcoming trip to Oxford and much more.

Key notes from Buzz Williams interview

  • We want to play with as many of our guys as possible. Wade Taylor IV is included in the group. We are playing 10 guys, double-figure minutes, and we are reliant on them being their best. We are thankful for the result on Saturday.

  • Confidence on the glass is very important, and its how we have gotten to this point in regards to creating more shots for ourselves. With LSU... Only giving them one shot. We defensively rebounded 80 percent of their misses. We are No. 1 in the county in offensive rebound percentage. We need to find ways to improve our defensive rebound percentage.

  • I thought our guys were absolutely tremendous. The fight, competitiveness and game plan from the staff is what the league has become. You are fighting invisible margins, and a lot of those aren't even statistics. When you play Quad 1A games, they are the best in the country. We will have several of those. The cohesiveness and the way we fought against Alabama and in Lexington, it was absolutely tremendous.

  • We are in the middle of our study of Ole Miss. They suffered their first loss in conference play on the road against their rival, Mississippi State. They are a really talented team, and there is a lot of versatility in their roster. We have to find ways to incrementally improve. We have to continue to be prepared for the opponent, but we can't lose the lessons we are learning in practice and in our games. Today starts Week 4 of a 10-week SEC season.

  • Everywhere Coach Chris Beard has been, he has coached at the highest level. He has had some of the most elite jobs. He has done it the hard way and the long way. He is an elite-level coach on both sides of the ball.

  • Ole Miss’ environment is unheralded. They have a lot of returning players. The players he has added, analytically, are very good. They are a top-25 half-court offensive team. They are a top-30 half-court defensive team. Saturday was their first loss. They won at Alabama and forced them to 21 turnovers.

  • In year one, we were 10-8 in SEC play. We were in Nashville for the SEC Tournament, and the world shut down. Based on how it's playing out, I think there will be multiple teams with a losing record that get an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.

  • 10-8 this year? You will get a bye. You may get a double bye in the SEC Tournament. It will come down to what you did in non-conference. We have the fourth-most wins in Quad 1 and 2 games in the country. Wake Forest is the only Quad 3 game we have played as of right now, and they are one spot away from being Quad 2.
