AGAIN! Tyler White named SEC's Special Teams Player of the Week

Texas A&M punter Tyler White is the Southeastern Conference’s Special Team Player of the Week.

Again. For the second time in as many weeks.

Utilized much less in Week 6 than his amazing Week 5 performance, White punted three times in A&M’s 41-10 throttling of Missouri. His punts covered 139 yards for a 46.3-yard average.

The Aggie shares the honor with Vanderbilt kicker Brock Taylor, who played an important role in the Commodores’ historic upset of Alabama.

It’s now time to talk about perhaps the most perfect punt in Texas A&M history, if not football history.

With just seconds remaining before halftime and the Aggies up 24-0, White trotted out for the first time all afternoon.

A&M’s drive had stalled at the Mizzou 49-yard line, and Mike Elko called upon his special teams weapon.

White’s high boot bounced at the 2-yard line and took a hard right toward the pylon. After tip-toeing down the goal line (but never touching), the ball went out of bounds at the half-yard line.

On 19 total punts, the Southlake product’s punts have carried 876 yards for a 46.1-yard average. Six have carried more than 50 yards, and 12 have been downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Any debate over whether or not White is having a special season is officially settled.

He’s A&M’s newest addition to an impressive history of punters.

He’s on All-SEC and All-American watch.

He’s also a contender for the Ray Guy Award.
