A&M softball earns No. 2 seed in Austin Regional, faces 3-seed Texas State
The Fightin' Texas Aggies are IN for the 21st consecutive time.
During Sunday's NCAA Selection Show, Trisha Ford's Texas A&M softball team found out they'll be sent to the Austin Regional as the No. 2 seed.
Hosted by Texas, Texas State and Seton Hall will also compete in Austin.
In contrast to recent seasons, these Aggies were not sweating out the NCAA Selection Show.
The Maroon & White enter the NCAA Tournament with a 33-19 overall record after a 12-12 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
Ford's first season in Aggieland saw the Aggies win five of their eight conference series. In March, A&M took two of three from both then-No. 7 Arkansas and then-No. 11 Kentucky.
In truth, the Aggies appeared to be playing their way into hosting at Davis Diamond before a mid-April trip to South Carolina.
With their postseason fate now known, Ford & Co. will focus can on what the head coach refers to as the "fun stuff."
The NCAA Tournament begins on Friday, May 19, and A&M will face Texas State at McCombs Field at 6:30 p.m. CT.
