I think I enjoyed watching Sam Bennett last week more than just about anything Aggie sports related in the last 10 or so years!

Brian Kortan highlights special moments caddying for Sam Bennett at The Masters
Brian Kortan took in all the views that Augusta National Golf Club had to offer while he caddied for Texas A&M golfer Sam Bennett at The Masters. Kortan joined Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio to detail his experience with Bennett.
Key notes from Brian Kortan interview
- I think it will be hard not to reflect considering the amount of attention and questions. Overall, it was an amazing deal. Sam Bennett handled it with such grace. He has matured to the point where those things don’t get to him anymore. The people are awesome and made the event so much better because of that.
- It was better than I expected in a lot of ways. Every bush, piece of mulch and pine needles seemed to be there for a purpose. It's made of TV, and it is glorious.
- I’m not a bucket list guy, but in terms of golf, if it's not the pinnacle, it’s pretty dang close. If you page back, you are talking about a young man in Sammy that made the cut at the US Open. He rests in the summer. He wins the US Amateur. He works his way through a golf season. He goes to The Masters and has the week that he had. It’s pretty phenomenal what he did. Set some records, made history, and I got to be there, front row, to see it all. Bucket list? I don’t know if that’s something you even dream up to put on your bucket list.
- Early in the week, I could see him feeling like himself. You can see it in his confidence. I knew if he puts well, he would be fine. Did I think he would be in the leader group starting Round 3? I didn’t necessarily think that, but I thought he would be okay. He strikes it, and he is smart.
- The more things stacked against him, the better he is. He can handle those situations. Everyone saw the layers to Sam. He’s humble and confident.
- They were fantastic. I was worried about Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka on Thursday. I was so pleased. Rahm was asking me how my week was going. Sammy took good notes of things. He is talented enough, and now he needs to make sure his body will let him.
- It takes a lot out of you. When you go hit a shot, you stop for about two minutes, There are so many uphills. More holes, the more you are walking uphill. It’s pretty physical, but if we had to play another round, I would have been fine.
- It showed well for the university and Sammy. In terms of our golf program, it shows our willingness to uplift our athletes. It showed the relationship you can have with your coach. There's a balance there.
- We played okay in the Aggie Invitational. Our guys are able of winning that tournament without Sammy. It was good for our guys to chase down Louisville. You have to be locked on the SEC Championships. We will get back and rest, and NCAA Regionals are in the middle of May.
