The road to Omaha officially runs through College Station.

Following an incredible regular season, Texas A&M has been selected as the #5 national seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament, granting them home-field advantage through the Regional and Super Regional rounds this upcoming postseason.

The Maroon & White will host TCU, Louisiana and Oral Roberts next weekend in the 2022 College Station Regional. The four-team double-elimination format begins this Friday.

A&M faces Oral Roberts in a first-round matchup on Friday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park with first pitch set for 1 p.m. CT. It will be the Aggies’ first NCAA Tournament game since a June 2, 2019, loss to Duke in the Morgantown Regional. This weekend will be the 12th regional played at Olsen Field since the park’s construction in 1978.

As the four-seed in the College Station Regional, Oral Roberts brings a 38-18 overall record to Aggieland. The Golden Eagles finished 17-7, second overall, in the Summit League and claimed their 20th conference championship yesterday with a 21-2 win over Omaha.

Also headed to the Brazos Valley will be TCU and Louisiana as the two and three seeds, respectively. They will face each other on Friday night.

First-year TCU head coach Kirk Saarloos led the Horned Frogs to a 36-20 overall record alongside a 16-8 showing in the Big 12 and the team’s second consecutive regular-season title. TCU was eliminated in the third round of their conference tournament as the one-seed after suffering losses to Texas and Oklahoma State.

Under then-head coach and current Aggie skipper Jim Schlossnagle, the Horned Frogs ended A&M’s seasons on three separate occasions from 2015-17, twice in Super Regionals and the 2017 College World Series. The Frogs also won the 2012 College Station Regional in their last year as members of the Mountain West Conference.

If both teams were to meet in this year’s regional, it would mark Schlossnagle’s first clash with the program he fronted for 17 seasons.

The 2022 Sun Belt Conference champs, Louisiana, are entering their 17th appearance in the NCAA regionals with a 36-21, 19-11 ledger. The Ragin’ Cajuns last came to Aggieland as participants in the 2007 College Station Regional and were knocked out by A&M in the finals, 4-1. They are led by former Texas A&M hitting coach Matt Deggs.

The 2022 College Station Regional is paired with the Louisville Regional, which features Louisville, Oregon, Michigan and Southeast Missouri State.

The winners in College Station and Louisville will meet next weekend in a best-of-three super regional for a trip to the College World Series.

1pm for the Aggies / 7pm for TCU? This has to be a mistake please Lord say that's a typo.

That's right. Schloss and the team got the choice, and that's what they wanted.

"This weekend will be the 12th regional played at Olsen Field since the park's construction in 1978."

It's only fit and proper in this 100th year anniversary of the birth of the 12th Man.
