Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • It's every week that it's a clown show in Austin. Coming out of their media and their spin machine, they've somehow spun this historic loss to Kansas that somehow some warm and fuzzy good things are going to come out of it with Steve Sarkisian. They lost to Kansas. At home. Everything that's going on off the field is taking away from what's happening on the field. You have to give the head coach time, but let's not act like he's not going to come out of this any different than what he is. He's 50-41 as a head coach all-time. That press conference question was ridiculous. It's a circus, and the entire season has been a circus. That question melted my brain when I heard it.

  • Texas has a chance to sign some really good players down the stretch, as does Texas A&M. We'll sit here on December 15 how it all shakes out. A&M has a chance to close historically, and we don't need to focus on what anybody else is doing.

  • When you're on the ground floor of A&M's program and see it day-to-day, you understand things that the national writers don't see. When Jimbo Fisher frames his answer around recruiting, he's talking about the foundation he has built this on. If they finish this season 9-3, it would be one of Jimbo's best coaching jobs after losing to Arkansas and Mississippi State. There is still a ton to play for.

  • Persistence wears down resistance. Le'Veon Moss committed to Alabama but then opened it up. With LSU being in turmoil and A&M running the ball with multiple backs has certainly helped. Both Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane may go over 1,000 yards in the season. That's a selling point. Tommie Robinson's relationship with Moss helped a bunch. He was also at Kyle Field recently to see the atmosphere. The environment around Kyle Field played a big role in closing the door in the recruitment. A&M had been trending the right way since this summer.

  • If you look at the commitment list and go to the composite rankings, where Moss sits in this class compared to where he would fit in past A&M classes speaks volumes. This could be the best A&M class ever. Another guy like that is Chris Marshall‍. He's a matchup nightmare and one of the best receivers in the state, but he's sitting in the middle of the class. Noah Thomas‍ is near the bottom, and he has had an incredible year. Martrell Harris‍ and Jadon Scarlett‍ are guys the staff has believed in and believes are key pieces. None of these are "throw-ins."

  • With Conner Weigman‍, it's doesn't surprise me, but they're playing Klein Collins on Friday night. They're running the ball at Bridgeland for 6-7 yards a carry. They were eating up the clock. Bridgeland couldn't stop it. The game gets into the fourth quarter, and Bridgeland is down 33-20. The Klein Collins student section starts chanting "Overrated" at Weigman. Two plays later, Bridgeland scores. Collins gets the ball back, converts two third downs. With two minutes left, Collins is facing fourth down with two minutes left. They line up to go for it, but the quarterback quick kicks for like 11 yards. In that moment, it was over. When you give him the ball back in that situation, the game was over. Sure enough, he marches them right down the field and wins the game with 15 seconds left. That's what he does.

  • Fisher addressed the LSU rumors privately as well, and he's very genuine. When he tells ids stuff, they believe him because he has never been fake with him. I think about a kid like Bryce Anderson‍ , who made his first visit in Jimbo's first season. He has built those kinds of relationships. He interacts with people well in general, and most take him at his word.

  • I don't think you can build a program on two-year guys. There are few programs in the country that can do that. Kansas State did that under Bill Snyder. You have to build relationships with high school coaches and high school players. Transfer players also hurts with continuity. When you get a kid as a freshman, it allows you to mold him how you want him.

  • I think it's the goal of the people across the street to finish with the No. 1 class. They're not shy about talking about it with recruits. The worm is starting to turn on being a high school athlete. In a month, most of them will be signing, and some will be moving into college to start spring ball. The perception of it being a top-class is becoming a reality for them, and it's something this class is after. It will be the best class in A&M history, but they have to close this thing out. This is a staff that has done it at a high level for a long time. They know they can do it. When Jimbo is that open about what kind of class they're about to sign, that's a message to A&M fans and A&M recruiting rivals about what they're building.

I realize you guys have to do a ton of content but please take time to proof read. The paragraph about the Bridgeland vs. Klein Collins match up is a disaster. Your high school grammar teacher would be shaking her head.

p.s. Don't judge me on any misspelled words, dangling modifiers, or improper conjunctions.

I'll judge you on your assumption the high school grammar teacher was a female.
