Wednesday recruiting notes
- LSU offered A&M WR commit Isaiah Sategna earlier this week. Obviously, he's got some ties to Louisiana with his parents both running track in Baton Rouge. There are some across the Sabine River that think the Tigers have a real chance at flipping him, but my sources have indicated this week that they feel like the Aggies have done a good job of parrying these initial Purple & Gold advances. Still a lot to be seen here as I anticipate the summer visit schedule will go a long way in determining the direction of this one. However, there's confidence on the A&M side that they can hold on. - I mentioned last week that the Aggies had a lot of work to do to nab North Shore CB Denver Harris, and that was prior to the Shad Banks transfer. I have heard that even Banks thought it was a long shot for Denver to end up in College Station. The two speak quite a bit. I haven't been given any indication however that Harris has moved or cancelled his A&M official visit though. The Aggie staff, by Denver's own admission, had made up quite a bit of ground over the course of the fall. However, my opinion is that Alabama is running lead in this one currently with Texas falling in behind the Crimson Tide. - I still wouldn't be surprised to see A&M move on 2023 Port Arthur Memorial OL Cayden Bowie. The staff may choose to wait until summer camps so they can get their eyes on him in person, but his tape and performances on the camp circuit so far have definitely gotten the attention of a lot of programs in the region, including the Aggies. - The Woodlands LB Martrell Harris told me last weekend that he's still looking at a summer time decision. Based on my reading of the situation, I'd suspect that to mean closer to June than August though. A&M continues to have very productive talks with Martrell and his inner circle. From what I've been told, A&M and College Station "make sense" for Harris. He wants to take some visits (Oklahoma, Notre Dame) to see what's out there, but I feel comfortable about where the Aggies currently stand.

Bad News, Good News
BadA&M dual sport commit Conner Weigman just informed me that he will not be able to make it to the spring game tomorrow because tonight's weather has moved his baseball game tonight to tomorrow. GoodA&M LB target Martrell Harris out of The Woodlands will be in town tomorrow. He was on our original list we put out earlier this week, but he had been fighting a stomach bug the last couple of days which made him questionable for the trip. However, I was told this evening that he will be coming up tomorrow morning.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
