Around Aggieland (10/18)
During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the gridiron, the pitch and beyond as it was a busy weekend for Texas A&M Athletics.
Football (5-2, 2-2 in SEC)
Texas A&M cruised to a three-score win in Columbia on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Missouri Tigers, 35-14. It was the Aggies' first true road game of the 2021 season.
- Running backs Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane both crossed the century mark in rushing yards with 168 and 124, respectively.
- Wide receiver Ainias Smith caught a pair of touchdown passes and moved into the top 10 in program history for career touchdown receptions with his 14th and 15th.
- Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper led all tacklers with a career-high eight stops, including seven solo tackles and one TFL.
- In a homecoming game, East St. Louis-native Antonio Johnson hauled in his first career interception.
For their performances, the following Aggies have been nominated for Southeastern Conference Player of the Week awards (Winners will be announced at 11 a.m. CT on Monday):

Soccer (6-7-2, 2-4-1 in SEC)
On Friday night, Texas A&M tied Alabama, 1-1, as two 10-minute overtime periods still could not find a winner.
- Prior to the match, the Aggies honored Kendall Bates, Daria Britton, Jordan Burbank, Macie Kolb and Karlina Sample during a Senior Night ceremony.
- 46’: Barbara Olivieri broke the ice, scoring off assists by Mia Pante and Maile Hayes. It was Olivieri's fourth goal of the season.
- 57': Alabama's Kate Henderson tied the match.
The Aggies travel to Starkville on Thursday night to face Mississippi State.
- Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
Volleyball (11-7, 4-4 in SEC)
Bird Kuhn and the Aggies were swept by No. 23 Florida on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.
- 12-25, 19-25, 15-25
- Treyaunna Rush recorded a season-high 11 kills on a .476 hitting percentage in the loss.
The Aggies travel to Starkville this weekend for two matches against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Men’s Swimming & Diving
No. 16 Texas A&M fell to No. 1 Texas in a dual-meet in Bryan-College Station on Friday, 185-107.
- Sophomore Victor Povzner was the only Aggie to win an event, placing first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 380.70.
The Aggies are off until Friday, November 5, when they host TCU at the Rec Center Natatorium in Aggieland.
- The meet with the Horned Frogs will be Alumni Weekend.
Women's Swimming & Diving
No. 21 Texas A&M fell to No. 5 Texas in a dual-meet in Bryan-College Station on Friday, 180-112.
- Sophomore Chloe Stepanek won the 200m free with a time of 1:47.57 for the Aggies' only win of the meet. She also finished second in both the 50m free (23.17) and 100m free (50.38).
- Freshman Aviv Barzelay finished second in both the 100m back (55.48) and 200m back (1:59.23).
The Aggies are off until Friday, November 5, when they host TCU at the Rec Center Natatorium in Aggieland.

Men's Tennis
Playing in the ITA Texas Regional in Bryan-College Station this weekend, the Aggies found some success in both the main and double's competition.
- Both Noah Schachter and Raphael Perot advanced to the semifinals of the individual tournament before falling to TCU’s Juan Carlos Aguilar (TAMU transfer) and Lcu Fomba, respectively.
- In double's play, the pairing of Austin Abbrat and Schachter fell in the semifinals to TCU's Lui Maxted and Pedro Vives.
The Aggies are back in action on October 28 when they travel to Columbia to play in the South Carolina Invitational.
Women's Tennis
Playing in the ITA Texas Regional in Fort Worth, Texas A&M doubles pairing of Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova are still alive, playing in the semifinals on Monday.
- They'll face Texas’ Charlotte Chavatipon and Kylie Collins, with first serve set for 9:00 a.m. CT.
- Should Goldsmith and Makarova advance, the final is set for 12:00 p.m. CT on Monday.
Cross Country
Running in the Arturo Barrios Classic in Bryan-College Station on Saturday, both the men's and women's teams finished in the top five in a field that included 35 teams.
- Men: Fifth-place with 204 points (Lipscomb won the event with 93 points)
- Top performer: Eric Casarez, second-place in the 8K, 23:34.2.
- Women: Fourth-place with 150 points (Libscomb won the event with 72 points)
- Top performer: Julia Black, 14th-place in the 6K, 20:57.3
Next for Texas A&M will be the SEC Championships on Friday, October 29, in Columbia, Missouri.
- The event will be run at the Gans Creek XC Course.
- A&M previously ran at the Gans Creek XC Course in the Gans Creek Classic in early October with the men finished seventh and the women winning the event.
- Casarez won the men's 8K, while Black finished fourth in the women's 6K.
Equestrian (1-1, 0-0 in SEC)
In the NECA’s “Meet of the Week," No. 5 Texas A&M fell to No. 8 Baylor on Friday, 12-7.
- Despite the loss, Devon Thomas earned the first Most Outstanding Performer honors of her career as her ride earned the Aggies a point, outscoring Baylor's Madeline Vorhies, 87-65.
The Aggies travel to Columbia, South Carolina, this week as they face No. 9 South Carolina on Friday.
Women's Golf
Playing in the Jim West Challenge at the Kissing Tree Golf Club, freshman Adela Cernousek finished the first two rounds tied for ninth to lead the Aggies.
- As a team, Texas A&M wrapped up day one tied for 8th with a 1-under 575. Oklahoma State is pacing the field.
- A&M tees off at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday, and the remainder of the tournament can be streamed on ESPN+.
Softball
In a situational exhibition contest, Texas A&M fell to Texas in 10 innings at Davis Diamond, 8-6.
- It was the Aggies first exhibition game of the fall.
The Aggies are back at Davis Diamond on Wednesday as they host Temple College in a doubleheader. Neither game will be televised.
